The Google Pixel Watch was launched last year along with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro devices. The first ever Google-branded smartwatch from the tech giant was launched in limited countries, and it was made available in LTE and Wi-Fi options. Unfortunately, the Pixel Watch was not announced for India. The Pixel Watch was received well by the audience, but there were a couple of major drawbacks.

Firstly, the smartwatch arrived in only one size, which was too small for most users, and secondly, the Pixel Watch has a pretty average battery life. According to a new report from 9to5google, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is coming later this year with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. Usually, Google launches the Pixel phones in October, and this year, we are expecting it to launch around the same time. Let’s take a look at the details of next-gen Pixel Watch.

Google Pixel Watch 2 To Launch Later This Year

According to the source, the second-generation watch from Google might not be called the Pixel Watch 2. Instead, the watch’s final name is said to match the naming scheme for phones, and it is scheduled to launch alongside the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. While there are no details of the upcoming smartwatch yet, Google may tease a bit about the second-gen Pixel Watch at the next week’s Google IO, as the same was also done for the original Pixel Watch at last year’s Google IO conference.

In terms of improvements, the next-gen Pixel Watch is expected to feature Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC, which is specifically built for smartwatches based on a 4nm process. In addition, the watch would run on the Wear OS platform along with Fitbit integration. In terms of software, the watch could also get the Material You theme along with Dynamic Color, which was introduced on phones with Android 13. The watch is also expected to feature a larger dial size, smaller bezels, and a similar design to the original watch.

The last year’s Pixel Watch features a 1.6-inch circular display with sizeable bezzles running around the display. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The watch is powered by Wear OS and brings features like Google Assistant, Maps, Wallet, Servies, and Play Store. Google also released the Google Home app for Pixel Watch, which was later made available for select WearOS watches. The watch comes with a rotatable crown and a button on the side to navigate across the UI and menus.

The Pixel Watch comes with full Fitbit integration and HR monitor, sleep tracking and active zone minutes. The watch supports multiple workouts and sports modes. In addition, the watch also comes with built-in GPS for tracking outdoor activities even without a phone. In terms of battery life, the Pixel Watch is rated to last one full day with the built-in battery. There is also an integrated mic and speaker.

The Pixel Watch was priced at $349 (~Rs 28,500)for the Wi-Fi model, and the 4G LTE model costs $399 (~Rs 32,500). We can expect the next-gen watch also to be priced in a similar price range.
