POCO C50 Indian Variant Appears on IMEI Database; Launch Expected Soon

POCO Global, back in June, launched the POCO C40 smartphone. The POCO C40 is the company’s first smartphone with a JLQ processor. Now, it appears that the company will soon introduce the successor of the C40 as the upcoming POCO C50 with model number 220733SPI has been spotted on the IMEI database, courtesy of Xiaomiui. Going by the model number, this appears to be the Indian variant of the upcoming POCO C50.

Also, folks at Xiaomiui claim that the POCO C50 will be launched in the Indian market only and we won’t see it in other global markets. The model number of the upcoming POCO handset suggests that it is a rebranded Redmi A1. To those unaware, the Redmi A1 was recently spotted on several certification websites including FCC, IMEI database, and BIS. Also, the upcoming POCO C50 with model number 220733SPI has already cleared BIS certification.

The upcoming Redmi smartphone also appeared on the Geekbench database which revealed that the smartphone could be powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 processor. Similar to other C-series smartphones, the upcoming POCO C50 will also be an entry-level handset and could launch in 3GB RAM configuration.

POCO C40 Will Not Launch in India!

In a separate development, POCO India head – Himanshu Tandon has revealed that the POCO C40 will not be launched in the Indian market. In response to a user query, Himanshu said that “We have transitioned 5 series. So no C40“. This suggests that the company plans to launch the POCO C50 in the Indian market and the IMEI database listing for the same also confirms the same.

As of now nothing much is known about the POCO C50 in terms of specifications. In a separate development, POCO is gearing up to launch a MediaTek Helio G99-powered smartphone in the Indian market which is expected to be the POCO M5 4G.
