In August this year, Xiaomi announced a new smartphone under its sub-brand Poco. The Poco F1 was the first device to launch under this brand and it immediately took the world by storm. The base variant of the phone was priced at INR 20,999 when it first launched in India. The company followed the flash sales model at first. Thankfully, Xiaomi then started an open sale, which allowed anyone to purchase the phone.
It is now available on Flipkart, Mi Store and even at Mi Home stores. Now, the company has announced a permanent price cut for the phone.
POCO F1 Price Cut in India Permanently
The POCO F1 (review) with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage used to be sold at INR 20,990 in the country. If you wanted more storage, 128GB to be exact, then you would have to pay INR 23,999. The top variant of the Poco F1, which comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, was priced at INR 28,999. However, starting today, the phones are going to cost INR 1,000 less. This is a permanent price cut, which means that you can take your sweet time to purchase the phone without worrying about the price going up.
The base variant is now available for INR 19,999, the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage costs INR 22,999, and the top spec version is priced at INR 27,999. For most buyers, the base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is more than enough for daily use. The INR 1,000 price cut will definitely help sell more of these phones. Xiaomi announced on twitter that the Poco F1 has crossed the 700,000 users mark. To celebrate this occasion, the company is taking INR 1,000 off all the Poco F1 variants.
POCO Fans, the celebrations are on! We're marking the 700K user milestone with the permanent price of ₹1000 off across all variants of #POCOF1! Get the true #MasterOfSpeed exclusively on https://t.co/DREiXV90LG, @Flipkart and at Mi Home stores. pic.twitter.com/hTEeqO1OzO

Although this is a great move by Xiaomi, several users took to the forums and Twitter to complain about the price drop. It is not fair on users who recently purchased the phone. If they had known about this, they would have waited. Unfortunately, these things are all marketing tactics to improve sales. Now that all the hype for the Pocophone has settled down, the company needs new ways to sell its phones.
In case you didn’t already know, the Poco F1 is a very powerful smartphone. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, which is found in phones that are three times more expensive. The phone has a 6.2-inch FHD+ LCD display with a notch at the top. It has a dual-rear camera setup with 12MP+5MP sensors, and a 20MP selfie camera. The notch at the front also houses an infrared camera which is used for Facial recognition. A 4000mAh battery keeps the lights on and the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 10 software.
Poco F1 Android Pie Update
Xiaomi recently started seeding a new software update for the Poco F1, which included features such as slow-motion recording at 960FPS and super low-light mode. The phone has been receiving regular software updates ever since its launch, however, users are most eagerly waiting for the Android 9.0 Pie update. Testing for the new software has already started and the first beta was rolled out recently.
Those who are waiting for the final public version of Pie, will not have to wait very long. The Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 update should be rolled out by the end of this month, or early January.
