Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has been in the news for quite a while now. The brand is allegedly going to launch a bunch of smartphones in the coming times. So far, we have heard rumors and reports surrounding three potential launches – POCO F2, POCO F2 Pro, and the POCO M2 Pro. Yesterday, we were able to spot the POCO M2 Pro smartphone on the RF page of the company’s Indian website. Today, we have gained some crucial details surrounding the much awaited POCO F2 smartphone, notably the presence of 5G and NFC in the device. The POCO F2 smartphone has been spotted on the Malaysian SIRIM certification authority website, which has revealed a lot about its specifications and features. Take a look at what we know about the POCO F2 so far.
POCO F2 Appears on SIRIM, 5G and NFC confirmed
As seen in the SIRIM certification image, the POCO F2 (with the model number M2004J11G) has been certified today. As per the certification, it will feature NFC and 5G support. That being said, the earlier certifications the POCO F2 received suggested that it would be a 4G handset, which makes us believe that the presence/absence of 5G might be region dependent. The certificate also reveals the bands the POCO F2 will run on – 5G(3500/7000), LTE(850/900/1800/2100/2300/2600(B7/B38)), GSM(850/900/1800/1900), 3G(900/2100), and ISM. Furthermore, POCO F2 is tipped to feature up to 33W fast charging support (rated input 5VDC, 3.0A, 11VDC, 3A (optional)).
So far, we have very little intel surrounding the POCO F2 smartphone, so whatever we have been able to gather today is probably the first hint towards what we can expect from the device. The POCO F2 Pro, on the other hand, is an entirely different story. If previous leaks are to be believed, the POCO F2 Pro will be a rebranded variant of the already launched Redmi K30 Pro smartphone.
As a matter of fact, the POCO F2 Pro smartphone has already been listed on an e-commerce website, which has revealed its specifications. As per the website, the POCO F2 Pro will feature some crucial advantages, such as a powerful chipset, a large memory, an excellent camera, and fast charging. The product page for the device mentions that the POCO F2 Pro will come in two memory variants – 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device will launch in four color variants – purple, blue, white, and gray.
Coming to the display of the device, the POCO F2 Pro is said to boast a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED panel, which will come with a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 395 pixels per inch pixel density. Powering the device will be an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, which will be assisted by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. On the software side of things, the POCO F2 Pro will run the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s proprietary MIUI 11 skin on top of it. As of now, this is all the information that we have surrounding the POCO F2, but given that the company will launch the upcoming POCO series smartphone(s) on May 12 in Spain, we can expect that the POCO F2 might also be announced on the same day. This, however, is a speculation as of now, so we would request readers to take it with a slight grain of salt.
