POCO M5 Budget Smartphone With Helio G99 SoC Launched in India

The POCO M5 is the second phone in India to launch with the Mediatek Helio G99 chipset under the hood. Infinix launched the Infinix Note 12 Pro in August which made it the first device to launch with this chipset in the country. Other features on the POCO M5 include a 6.58-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate support, 50MP triple-rear camera setup, 5,000mAh battery, ARM Mali G57 GPU, and more.

POCO M5: Price in India, Sale Date

The POCO M5 will be available in India from September 13 at 12:00 PM via Flipkart. It will be available in three colours – Blue, Black and Yellow.

POCO M5: Full Features

The POCO M5 4G sports a 6.58-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz screen refresh rate. It is an IPS LCD screen with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and Widevine L1 support to stream HD content from OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, etc.

It is powered by one of the latest chipsets from the house of MediaTek, the Helio G99 SoC. This processor is built on a 6nm process and has a max clock speed of 2.2GHz. It is paired with ARM Mali G57 GPU. The device offers up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The device also supports 2GB of Virtual RAM which Poco calls the Turbo RAM.  It boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. 

In terms of optics, the M5 comes with a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8MP front shooter.

The handset packs a large 5,000mAh battery unit and supports 18W fast charging. POCO is bundling a 22.5W charger inside the box. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
