Poco has launched the Poco M5 in India today. This new M series device is Poco’s latest budget phone and successor to the Poco M4. The Poco M5 is a 4G device and the newly launched device is powered by the new MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, making it the second device after the Infinix Note 12 Pro in India to feature the same.

Another key highlight of the Poco M5 4G is the design of the phone. The Poco M4 comes with faux leather on the back, which adds a unique and premium look to the device. The phone comes with a 90Hz display and sports a 5,000mAh battery. Let’s take a look at the phone in detail.

Poco M5: Price in India and Availability

The Poco M5 comes in two configurations 一 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB. The base variant with 4GB RAM is priced at Rs 12,499 and the 6GB variant is priced at Rs 14,499. The device will go on sale via Flipkart starting September 13. The phone will be available in Poco Yellow, Power Black and Icy Blue colour options.

During the Big Billion Days, the device will be priced at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 for the 4GB and 6GB variants respectively including a Rs 1,500 instant discount from ICICI and Axis bank cards.

Poco M5: Specifications and Features

The Poco M5 is powered by one of the latest chipsets from the house of MediaTek. The device is equipped with MediaTek Helio G99 SoC. The Helio G99 processor is built on a 6nm process and has a max clock speed of 2.2GHz. This is paired with Arm Mali G57 GPU. The Poco M5 offers up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. The device also supports Virtual RAM, Poco calls it Turbo RAM.

In terms of visuals, the Poco M5 4G sports a 6.58-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz screen refresh rate. It is an IPS LCD screen with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and Widevine L1 support to stream HD content from OTT apps like Netflix, Prime Video, etc. In the camera department, the Poco M5 comes with a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

Further, the device draws power from a 5,000mAh battery unit and supports 18W fast charging. As for the software, the Poco phone runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. Other features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, Game Turbo 5.0, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-band Wi-Fi, 8.9mm thick, an IR blaster, and Bluetooth 5.3.
