POCO, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has plans to debut a range of new smartphones in India this year. The company is reportedly gearing up to refresh its entire set of phones to the fourth generation, in the next four months.
The company has also confirmed there won’t be any new lineups, but instead, the brand is focussing on introducing new smartphones in the existing range of devices including the Poco F, Poco X, Poco M, and the Poco C series. Here’s everything we know so far.
New Poco F, Poco X, Poco M, and Poco C Series Smartphones Incoming!
In an interview with Gadgets360, POCO India’s country Director Anuj Sharma revealed that the company intends to refresh all of its phones to the fourth generation.
He further added that the brand is not looking to introduce any additional complexity and the company will definitely have at least one new model in each of the series; implying that new models will only be available in the Poco F, Poco X, Poco M, and Poco C series.
Sharma, on the other hand, underlined the difficulty of sustaining a low price point in today’s market. While Poco’s C series portfolio is already in the affordable bracket, the CEO indicated that some of the company’s upcoming models will be priced around Rs. 30,000.
Since the government confirmed the 5G spectrum auction plans in its Budget 2022, and demand for 5G is expected to rise, Anju tells Gadgets 360 that the company has plans to introduce more smartphones with 5G connectivity (the brand currently has the POCO M3 Pro and the POCO F3 GT in its 5G portfolio).
POCO Could Expand Beyond Smartphone Categories in 2022!
POCO was previously rumoured to be working on its first TWS product, the POCO Pop Buds, and Anuj confirms that the company is working on truly wireless earphones. However, the actual date of the earbuds’ release is yet unknown.
“From a team perspective, one of our key priorities for 2022 is to go beyond phones. I don’t want to say anything, saying that we’ll definitely do it because we’ve been trying to do it for the last, I think, five quarters. And we’ve basically run into roadblocks, mostly internally saying that we don’t like it, or this is not really hitting that particular threshold”, he added.
