POCO has been teasing the launch of its next X-series smartphone. The company is likely to launch the POCO X5 series soon in India and other markets. The X5 5G will be an affordable mid-range device, whereas the X5 Pro 5G will launch as an upper mid-range performance smartphone. The POCO X5 Pro 5G is expected to be a rebadged Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. The company is yet to confirm the launch details. However, a teaser screened during Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan has now revealed the launch date of the POCO X5 Pro 5G.
The banner shared by a Twitter user confirms that the X5 Pro 5G will be unveiled on February 6 in India. There is no mention of the POCO X5 5G, which is also rumoured to be unveiled alongside.
POCO X5 Pro India Launch Date Confirmed
The POCO X5 Pro 5G will launch as a successor to the X4 Pro 5G, which was launched last year as a mid-range smartphone under Rs 20,000 in India. The launch event is set to take place at 5.30 pm on February 6.
The X5 Pro’s design has been teased as well. The phone has a triple-camera setup on the back. The camera module sits on a black-coloured island, which has the POCO branding on the right. The device has a flat frame design. Like almost all POCO phones, the X5 Pro will be available for purchase via Flipkart.
As mentioned above, the phone is rumoured to be a rebadged Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition from China. A tipster had also revealed the RAM, storage and pricing details of the phone. The X5 Pro 5G is said to have a starting price between Rs 21,000 and Rs 23,000. It will launch in three variants — 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.
If the phone is indeed a rebadged Note 12 Pro Speed Edition from China, it will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor under the hood. The SoC will feature an Adreno 642L GPU as well. There will be a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging out of the box.
The phone gets the latest Xiaomi MIUI skin, MIUI 14 in China. However, it is based on Android 12 out of the box. It comes with a triple-camera setup on the back. The phone is likely to feature a 108MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, there will be a 16MP front camera.
The X5 Pro 5G is likely to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, AI face unlock, etc. It has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The screen will have a hole-punch cutout at the top centre and support a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with 900 nits of peak brightness and has support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Lastly, the phone is likely to have dual speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. What are your thoughts about the X5 Pro 5G? Let us know in the comments below.
