POCO X5 Series Teased by POCO India Head, Could Launch in January or February

POCO X5 series smartphones have already acquired BIS certification.

POCO, back in March this year, launched the POCO X4 Pro 5G smartphone in the Indian market. The brand is expected to refresh its X-series soon as the POCO X5 series smartphones have cleared a few certifications recently. In the latest development, POCO India Head Himanshu Tandon has hinted that the POCO X5 series might go official in the month of January or February 2022.

In response to a Tweet related to the listing of upcoming smartphones by tipster Yogesh Brar, Himanshu dropped the hint. The tweet posted by the POCO India head mentions POCO X5 series which suggests that POCO will launch more than one smartphone under the X5 lineup. Take a look at Himanshu’s tweet.

To those unaware, the brand offered POCO X3 and POCO X3 Pro under the X3 lineup, but with the X4 series, the brand decided to launch only one smartphone, which is POCO X4 Pro. However, based on the latest tweet, we can expect the company to launch POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro under the X5 series.

The POCO X5 has model number 22111317PG and has already been spotted on the SIRIM certification website. The Indian variant of the POCO X5 with model number 22111317PI has also cleared BIS certification. The POCO smartphone with model number 22101320 was earlier rumoured to be POCO X5. However, a recent report by Xiaomiui revealed that the device with model number 22101320 will launch as the POCO X5 Pro.

The POCO X5 Pro Indian variant, with model number 22101320I (I stands for Indian variant), has already cleared Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) certification. Also, the global variant of the POCO X5 Pro with model number 22101320G was previously spotted on 3C, IMDA, and FCC certifications.

As far as specifications are concerned, the POCO X5 Pro with model number 22101320 will feature a 4900mAh battery (as revealed in the FCC listing). We can expect the company to market it as a 5000mAh battery. The upcoming Pro model under the X-series will support 67W fast charging, similar to its predecessor. The POCO X5 Pro will boot MIUI 14 out of the box. We can expect it to be based on Android 13.

The model number of the upcoming POCO X5 is similar to that of the Redmi Note 12 5G. So, we can expect the POCO X5 to be based on Redmi Note 12 5G. However, we can certainly expect to see a few changes compared to the Redmi Note 12 5G. This means that POCO X5 could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor. Whereas, the POCO X5 Pro is rumoured to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ under the hood.
