POCO is expected to refresh its X-series with the POCO X5 series in the coming weeks. POCO India Head Himanshu Tandon recently hinted that the POCO X5 series could go official sometime in the month of January or February. To those unaware, the POCO X5 series is expected to include the POCO X5 5G and the POCO X5 Pro. Out of the two, the vanilla POCO X5 was recently spotted on NBTC, BIS, EEC, and TUV certification websites.

Now, Kacper Skrzypek, who has quite a credible record when it comes to Xiaomi-related leaks, has tipped that the POCO X5 5G is codenamed moonstone and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. Apart from this, Kacper also says that the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, which was launched a couple of days ago in China, will debut as the POCO X5 Pro in the global markets. Let us take a closer look at the details.

Earlier, the POCO X5 5G was reported to be rebranded Redmi Note 12 5G, but the report was denied by the company executives. However, the recent findings by Kacper once again suggest that the POCO X5 5G and Redmi Note 12 5G might have a lot in common. However, there is one change that we are definitely going to see between the POCO X5 5G and the Redmi Note 12 5G.

Kacper reveals that the POCO X5 5G will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, similar to the POCO X4 Pro 5G. However, the Redmi Note 12 5G, which is launching on January 5 in India, will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. Despite using different processors, the POCO X5 5G and Redmi Note 12 5G will have a unified ROM, as claimed by Kacper on Twitter.

Kacper further claims that the recently launched Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition will launch as the POCO X5 Pro 5G in the global markets. To those unaware, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor. The smartphone offers an AMOLED display and a 108MP camera setup. This means that the POCO X5 Pro could be the company’s first smartphone with a 108MP camera in the Indian market.

The Note 12 Pro Speed Edition comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery and 67W fast charging support. This suggests that the POCO X5 Pro could offer a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging, similar to its predecessor.
