Possible Google Pixel 8 With High-End Specs Reportedly in the Works

The device might be launched later this year.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro

Google is all set to launch the Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Google Pixel 7 later this year. The phone’s existence and the first look were revealed at Google IO 2022 earlier this month. Ahead of the launch, the Google Pixel 7 series display specs were leaked, which suggested that the Pixel 7 duo will not come with any major upgrade over the last gen.

The Pixel 7 Pro will have a triple-camera setup, whereas the Pixel 7 will feature a dual-camera setup. A new report now has revealed that Google might be working on a new phone, which could be a flagship device in the Pixel lineup. Let’s take a look at more information on this mysterious Pixel device.

Hints of Mysterious Google Pixel Smartphone Spotted

As per the report from 9to5Google, Google is working on a new Pixel device, which is entirely different from the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. In addition to these two devices, codenames of the two new devices were spotted on the AOSP code 一Felix and Lynx, which as per the report belong to the same family. One is likely the Pixel 7a and the other one is a mysterious device.

The Mysterious Pixel device is tagged “G10″. For reference the Pixel 7 is codenamed “Cheetah” and the 7 Pro is codenamed “Panther” and they’re tagged with “C10” and “P10 respectively. The codename for the “G10” is yet to be known. However, the display specifications of the device have been revealed.

The G10 will have a 120Hz screen refresh rate, which is similar to the Pixel 6 Pro and also the upcoming Pixel 7 Pro. The display is built by BOE instead of Samsung and it has identical specs to the Pixel 6 Pro including a 1440×3120 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 71 x 155mm size. Given the screen size and resolution of the device, the chances of this being a large foldable or the Pixel Tablet can be eliminated. Lastly, the device will run on Android, which is not surprising. The device might also sport a Tensor chip.

Google usually launches three devices in a series 一 the regular, a Pro model, and an A-series. This year, it looks like the company is adding a new device. If we were to speculate, this might be another high-end version of the Pixel 7 Pro or this could be Google already preparing a Pixel 8 series device. However, there is no clarity on the name of the device yet.
