iQOO recently unveiled the iQOO 8 series in China. The company launched two flagship models, namely the iQOO 8 and 8 Pro. It is being rumoured that the vanilla iQOO flagship will debut next month in India. It comes with a Snapdragon 888 SoC and a triple-camera setup on the back. There is no word on the launch of the Pro model in India at the moment. Meanwhile, an iQOO device is listed on the Google Play Console listing with the model number I2017. The iQOO 7 Pro, which never launched, was previously listed on the IMEI database with the same model number. It is possible that iQOO could launch this device as the iQOO 8 Pro in India. Let’s take a look at the iQOO 7 Pro India variant specs, features and other details revealed via the Google Play listing.

iQOO 8 Pro India variant Google Play Console listing

iQOO 8 series could debut soon in India. Ahead of the upcoming launch, the possible iQOO 8 Pro India variant is listed on Google Play Console. The listing reveals that the device has the model number i2017. This device was listed previously on IMEI as the iQOO 7 Pro. iQOO did not launch the 7 Pro in China. That being said, it could debut under the iQOO 8 series iQOO 8 series India variant. An image attached reveals that the phone has a curved AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The key difference between the 7 Pro and 8 Pro, in terms of display, is that the latter has a 2K curved AMOLED display.

The listing suggests that iQOO could debut its Pro flagship model soon in India. The company has not announced the official launch date yet. It is rumoured that the vanilla iQOO 8 will launch in mid-September in India. There is no word on the Pro model’s India launch date. That being said, we can expect iQOO to debut the Pro flagship later this month.

The listing further reveals that the India variant will have a Snapdragon 888 series SoC under the hood. We are taking an educated guess that this iQOO phone has a Snapdragon 888+ SoC, considering the 8 Pro in China features the same processor. It runs Android 11 out of the box. The India variant is likely to have a layer of Funtouch OS 11 on top. The octa-core processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and an Adreno 660 GPU.

iQOO is yet to confirm the official launch date of the flagship series. As mentioned above, the iQOO 8 could debut in mid-September in India.

Editor’s Note: This particular Google Play listing is a confusing one. While it indicates that the phone could be the iQOO 7 Pro based on the model number, But, the truth of the matter is iQOO never launched an iQOO 7 Pro globally. So, we have a suspicion that this could very well be the iQOO 8 Pro because it makes no sense for iQOO to be launching a 7 series phone now. However, stranger things have happened and iQOO did launch the iQOO Neo 5 as a rebranded iQOO 7 in India. Where the global iQOO 7 variant was launched as the iQOO 7 Legend in India. This is where we’d like to highlight the ambiguous nature of leaks and most of our leaks coverage is based on guesstimates. This time though, even we are unsure.
