Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will launch earlier than expected. The chipmaker, at the Snapdragon W5 and W5+ SoC launch, confirmed that it will host the Snapdragon Summit in November this year. Qualcomm typically hosts its annual summit during the first week of December. This year, the company will host the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii on November 15.
The Snapdragon Summit will be a 3-day event, where the company will announce its latest tech innovation for mobiles and other devices. At the event, we expect the company to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
Qualcomm did not mention the reason to move the launch timeline to November this year. It is being speculated that the company, along with Chinese smartphone makers, wanted to make the most of the Chinese New Year in January 2023. By announcing the new chipset weeks in advance, it gives enough room for smartphone manufacturers to launch their premium and flagship devices ahead of the Chinese New Year.
At the Snapdragon Summit, we can also expect to see some more chipsets alongside Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Qualcomm explicitly did not mention any details about the number of SoCs it would unveil at the event in November.
