After creating a stir in the entry-level Android smartphone segment in India with the Realme 2, Realme launched the Realme 2 Pro in India last month to take on Xiaomi in the budget segment. Thanks to its impressive hardware specifications and attractive design, the Realme 2 Pro is among the best budget Android smartphones on sale in India currently. However, some owners of the smartphone have complained that the battery optimization on the device is less than satisfactory. To fix this, Realme will be rolling out a new software update for the Realme 2 Pro later this week.
Realme 2 Pro Upcoming OTA Update to Improve Battery Optimization, Selfie Camera
Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed that an OTA update to improve the selfie camera and battery optimization for the Realme 2 Pro will be released this week. No specific date has been confirmed by the company yet, although you can expect it to begin rolling out by the weekend for at least some units. Once Realme is done rolling out the OTA update for the Realme 2 Pro, the company will be pushing out the ColorOS 5.2 update for the Realme 1. The Realme 1 was launched in May this year with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.0 version out of the box.

The Realme 2 Pro features a 3500mAh capacity Li-Ion battery, which should be able to deliver decent battery life. However, thanks to the poor battery optimization, many owners are experiencing excessive drain during standby. While it remains to be seen if the battery drain issue will be fixed completely with the upcoming OTA update, owners of the smartphone can surely expect some improvement in terms of battery life. Realme 2 Pro owners also appear to be quite unhappy with the smartphone’s selfie camera, which overexposes shots nearly every time. This issue is also likely to be fixed with the upcoming update. Once the OTA update becomes available for your Realme 2 Pro, you will receive an update notification automatically, asking you to download and install the OTA update. Since the OTA update will not bring any major changes apart from fixes and improvements, we expect it to be quite small in terms of size. You may also try looking for the update manually by heading over to the Settings Menu on your Realme 2 Pro.
