Realme 2 ColorOS 5.2 OS to Roll Out At the End of December, Android 9 Pie OS Update Confirmed

Realme has confirmed the Android 9 Pie update for the Realme 2. While the Pie update is not expected to arrive this year, the smartphone will receive the ColorOS 5.2 update by December-end.

Earlier this month, Realme India confirmed that it would be releasing the Android 9 Pie update for the Realme 1, its very first Android smartphone. Soon after confirming the Android Pie update for the Realme 1, the company announced the ColorOS 5.2 update for the Realme 1, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, and Realme C1 smartphones. Realme has now shed some more light on its update plans for the Realme 2. The company has revealed that the ColorOS 5.2 update for the smartphone will be rolled out in December-end. Apart from the ColorOS 5.2 update, Realme has also confirmed the Android 9 Pie update for the Realme 2.

Realme 2 ColorOS 5.2 OS Update to Roll out Starting December-End

While owners of the Realme 1 will begin receiving the ColorOS 5.2 stable update by the end of November, Realme 2 owners will need to wait longer for the same update. Realme expects to begin rolling out the ColorOS 5.2 update for the smartphone at the end of December. However, a minimal delay cannot be ruled out, in which case Realme 2 owners may have to wait until January to receive the stable ColorOS 5.2 update. As confirmed by the company previously, it will begin rolling out a new ColorOS 5.1 update for the Realme 2 starting tomorrow. The new software update will install the latest November 2018 Android security patch. Not many smartphones have received the November 2018 security patch yet, so it is certainly commendable that the Realme is bringing the latest security patch to its entire lineup.

ColorOS 5.2 comes with a revamped interface that promises to deliver a better user experience. It also comes with Google Lens integration, making it easier for users to interact with their surroundings. Some other highlights of the ColorOS 5.2 update include Smart Scan with optical character recognition (OCR), Smart Bar for more convenient multitasking, new video editing features, and more.

Realme 2 Android 9 Pie Update Confirmed

Realme had confirmed in a Twitter post earlier this month that it would be updating the Realme 1 to Android 9 Pie. In a new tweet, Realme has now confirmed that it would be releasing Android Pie for both the Realme 1 and Realme 2 smartphones ‘soon’. The company has not confirmed any specific release timeframe, however, which could mean the update will be arriving sometime early next year. Since the Realme 2 will be updated to ColorOS 5.2 only by the end of December, the Android Pie update for the smartphone will probably begin rolling out by the end of the first quarter next year. Realme 1, however, may start receiving the Android 9 Pie update a little sooner. We expect more details regarding the company’s Android Pie update release plans to be revealed in the coming weeks. Since Realme has now confirmed the Android Pie update for the Realme 2, there is a good chance that the Realme 2 Pro will also be updated to Android Pie soon after the rollout begins for the Realme 1.

While the Realme 2 Pro will certainly be updated to Android 9 Pie, it remains to be seen if the company plans to release the Pie update for Realme C1. The Realme C1 is currently the most affordable Realme smartphone on sale in India. It was launched in India at INR 6,999 in September but its price was hiked by INR 1,000 last week.
