Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is planning to launch its new budget smartphone the Realme 3 in India in the first week of March. The company earlier today officially started sending out press invites for the same. In an article yesterday, we had talked about the Realme 3 and the likely specifications it might sport. Simply put, we expect the Realme 3 to be a successor of the Realme 2 (and not the Realme 2 Pro). For the same reason, we expect this handset to be priced well under the INR 12,000 mark when it comes to India soon.

Many tech publications and YouTubers across India have officially received an invite for the launch event of the Realme 3. The phone also has an interesting caption that reads ‘ Power Your Style” clearly indicating that the handset will be quite a looker. They have also shared the invite on their official Twitter handle.

In yesterday’s article, we had talked about some of the specifications of the Realme 3. Let us do a recap of the same again.
Realme 3 specifications, features and expected price in India
As explained in our blog post yesterday, it is more or less confirmed that the Realme 3 version that will go on sale in India will come powered by the Mediatek Helio P70 chipset. This is an upgraded version if the Helio P60 SoC. The device is expected to come in a base 3GB RAM version with 32GB of storage and a pricier 4GB RAM variant with 64GB of storage. Both the versions get a microSD card slot for additional memory. Another version that will use the Helio P60 SoC could be sold in other markets as an international version of the phone. In case you are unaware, the Mediatek Helio P70 chipset is based on a 12nm FinFET manufacturing process and is 15% more power when compared to the Helio P60. Internally, the Helio P70 uses an 8-core processor with four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.1GHz. As for the graphics, this department is handled by the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. On paper, the performance of the P70 is on par with that of the Snapdragon 660 SoC from Qualcomm.
The camera on the Realme 3 was rumored to be a 48-megapixel sensor like the one on the Redmi Note 7. We have reasons to believe that the camera on the Realme 3 will be a humbler camera setup consisting of a dual camera set up at the rear and a single front-facing camera. In our opinion, Realme could use the 48-megapixel camera on the Realme 3 Pro if and when it launches sometime in the future. As for the display, we might see the Realme 3 use an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1520x 720 pixels.
We expect the Realme 3 to be priced below INR 12,000 when it is launched in India
