OPPO’s popular sub-brand Realme is back in the news once again. The company which recently launched two new handsets; the Realme 3i and the Realme X in India is all set to launch a brand new series of smartphones on August 20. While the details of these new phones remain under wraps as of now, what we do know is that these new phones will be part of the Realme 5 Series. Realme, earlier today, officially confirmed the existence of the Realme 5 Series after they teased the launch of these devices on Flipkart. The teaser reveals that the company will launch these handsets in India on August 20 at 12:30 pm.

Realme 5, Realme 5 Pro: What do we know so far?

Information about the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro remain sketchy as of now. The names are of course based on the naming scheme adopted by the company for its older devices. These new 5-Series handsets will most likely replace the existing Realme 3 and Realme 3 Pro. While the teaser does not talk anything about the hardware specifications, it does reveal that at least one of the handsets will feature a quad-camera setup at the rear. The teaser also revealed that setup includes a standard wide-angle camera, a secondary ultra-wide-angle camera, a super macro camera, and a specialized portrait camera.

This would be the first-ever quad-camera smartphone from Realme. The teaser also reveals that the primary camera will have excellent low light capabilities. The secondary ultrawide angle camera has a 119-degree field of view. Realme is yet to reveal the megapixel count or the sensor details of these four cameras. What is also yet unknown are details regarding the facing camera.

It is safe to assume that the Realme 5, being the lower-priced of the two may have one or two features less than the Pro version. The prices of these devices should hover around between the INR 10K and INR 15K mark- unless, of course, Realme decides to throw us a surprise. We had recently reported about Realme also planning to launch a new device with a 64-megapixel camera before Diwali.
