Realme has just pushed the commit button on a number of updates for its Realme 1, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme C1 devices. The update sees a number of changes across the lineup with the most significant being the release of ColorOS 5.2 Beta for the Realme 1.

Realme took to its website to announce the host of updates and detail exactly what to expect for each device.

Quite assumingly, Realme makes a point of highlighting that the most common question that its support team sees involves questions around when people are likely to see their device upgraded. To satisfy that query, Realme announced that it is going to begin to publish a monthly update roundup detailing exactly what devices will be updated together with details of the various patches.

Realme 1 ColorOS 5.2 Update

The update on November 10 sees an OTA published to the Realme 1 to ready the device for the future ColorOS 5.2 update. This will be followed up on November 16 with the actual ColorOS 5.2 Beta software that includes fixes for developer options’ flashing, single-swipe notification dismisses, and a headset icon.

Shortly after on November 25, Realme will push the ColorOS 5.2 update to the public for the Realme 1.

Realme 2 and C1 Update

Unlike the Realme 1, the Realme 2 and Realme C1 update consists of the November security patch. This includes hotfixes to the Android operating system as well as Realme’s own security fixes to patch holes in the software that could be used to exploit vulnerabilities.

This particular patch focuses on resolving a vulnerability that could enable a proximate attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process. The full exploit list that these November patch fixes are available on the Google website. While it may not seem relevant to your specific use case, the exploits that are patched on a monthly basis is extremely important in keeping Android secure.

Android partners are notified of all issues at least a month before publication. Source code patches for these issues have been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository and linked from this bulletin. This bulletin also includes links to patches outside of AOSP.

Realme does highlight that users of the Realme 2 and C1 have not been forgotten and will receive the ColorOS 5.2 update in due course, but the company is not working to similar timescales as the Realme 1 for these devices.

Realme 2 Pro Update

While not getting an update immediately, Realme has listed the Realme 2 Pro as getting an OTA update on November 20 that will ready the device for the upcoming ColorOS 5.2 Beta. That estimated date is caveated by a statement that suggests users may not get the update immediately on November 20 and there may be a delay.
