Last year, alongside its mid-range phones, Oppo‘s sub-brand Realme also launched a budget phone dubbed Realme C1. A few months later, the company launched its upgraded version named Realme C1 (2019). And today, with the launch of Realme 3 Pro, we have got a successor to the Realme C1 and Realme C1 (2019), the Realme C2. As is the case with every new launch, we must compare it with the predecessor to gauge its upgrade level. The Realme C2 price in India starts at INR 5,999 for the 2GB RAM+16GB Storage variant and goes up to INR 7,999 for the 3GB RAM+32GB Storage model. On the other hand, the Realme C1 (2019) retails at INR 7,499 for the 2GB RAM+32GB Storage variant and INR 8,499 for the 3GB RAM+32GB Storage variant. The oldest in the trio, the Realme C1 price in India is INR 6,999 for the single variant featuring 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage.
Realme C2 vs Realme C1 (2019) vs Realme C1 (2018): Display, Performance
Starting with the display, the Realme C2 boasts a 6.1-inch HD+ display with dewdrop notch housing the selfie camera and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. A MediaTek Helio P22 chipset power the phones clocked at 2GHz with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It has a microSD card slot allowing further storage expansion up to 256GB. On the software side of things, the Realme C2 ships with Android 9.0 Pie-based ColorOS 6.0.
The Realme C1 (2019) packs a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage expandable up to 256GB via microSD card slot. It was launched with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 but should soon receive an update for ColorOS 6.0.
On the contrary, the Realme C1 is identical to the Realme C2 except for the RAM and storage capacity. It settles for 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage offering the same storage expansion capacity as the Realme C2 (2019) with a microSD card slot.

Concerning optics, the newly launched Realme C2 smartphone sports a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera setup with f/2.2 aperture supporting features like Portrait mode, AI Face Unlock, Slow-mo recording, and more. On the front, the phone has a 5MP selfie camera. A 4,000mAh backs the smartphone. Interestingly, both Realme C1 (2019) and Realme C1 also have the same camera setup on the rear and front with Face Unlock feature but lacks support for Slow-mo video recording. As for battery capacity, both Realme C1 (2019) and Realme C1 are backed by a 4230mAh battery.
Realme C2 vs Realme C1 (2019) vs Realme C1 (2018): The Verdict
The Realme C2 is an incremental upgrade over the Realme C1 (2019). The phone brings upgrades in terms of camera features such as Slow-mo video-recording. As for the hardware, on-paper the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset should perform better than Snapdragon 450 chipset but we still need to test the Realme C2 to ensure that it is speedier and more efficient than the Snapdragon 450 models. In the software segment, both Realme C1 (2019) and Realme C1 will catch up with Realme C2 when they receive an update for ColorOS 6.0.
If you’ve been planning to buy a phone under 8K in India, then you can consider the Realme C2. However, if you can stretch your budget by adding 2K you will have better alternatives like Xiaomi‘s Redmi Note 7.
