Realme will not bring its flagship, the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition smartphone to India, company chief Madhav Sheth has confirmed. In the latest edition of one of his regular interaction sessions, Sheth mentioned that the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition is not in sight for an India launch. Instead, the company will be bringing the GT Neo 2 smartphone, also a premium entrant from its stable, to the country. The latter will reportedly be launched in a Mint Green colour shade, and even the Realme Buds Air 2 will be introduced in a new, green colour variant.

The Realme GT Neo 2 in question is a gaming centric smartphone that was introduced in China recently, and while a launch date for the smartphone in India is yet to be revealed, speculations suggest that the upcoming festive season might be a target period for Realme to introduce it. The device is one of the more premium smartphones in the company’s lineup, offering a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, along with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Up front, it offers a 6.62-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate. To the rear, it houses a 64MP triple rear camera setup, while powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 65W SuperDart charging.

While this makes for a fairly strong, competitive smartphone, it remains to be seen how followers of the brand would react to the GT Master Explorer Edition not launching in the country. The latter, however, has a comparable feature set. It is powered by the same chipset, and has the same RAM and storage variants. It houses a 6.55-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, and to the rear, it has a 50MP triple rear camera setup. Powering this is a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging – which makes the two phones nearly comparable on almost every ground.

Going forward, it will be interesting to see how the company prices its upcoming smartphone. The Realme GT Neo 2 may rival the likes of the Vivo X60 series, the OnePlus 9R and the Mi 11X smartphones when it is launched in India, and as a result, potential buyers may expect a price point of within Rs 40,000 to look at.
