Realme is gearing up to launch a new GT series device in China. The Realme GT Neo 5 will be released on February 9, and the device’s global launch will follow in the coming months. Ahead of the launch, Realme has been revealing many new features of the smartphone. It is the first device from the brand to feature support for 240W fast charging tech. The Chinese firm has announced another significant change with the upcoming GT Neo 5 and other Realme smartphones. The smartphone OEM reveals that it will include the popular infrared sensor with the forthcoming GT Neo 5 smartphone.

Forthcoming GT Neo 5 to Set Become the First Realme Smartphone with an Infrared Sensor

The teaser shared by Realme reveals that the Realme GT Neo 5 will be the first infrared device from the brand. The poster reads as “True Me’s first infrared,” which is the beginning and will be standard for Realme smartphones in the future.

The company targets its rival Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi using the words “True Me.” One advantage of Xiaomi devices was the inclusion of infrared sensors as standard. Xiaomi hasn’t skipped including an infrared sensor with any device, be it a budget or a flagship one.

As we mentioned, the upcoming Realme GT 5 is the first smartphone mass-produced with 240W fast charging tech. Realme will be launching the smartphone in two variants with different charging speeds. 

The lower variant will sport a large 5000mAh battery with 150W fast charging tech. The 240W variant is said to feature a smaller 4500mAh battery. Realme claims the smartphone can be used for up to 2 hours with 30 seconds of charging. 

The upcoming Realme smartphone is the first with 240W support to obtain product certification by TÜV Rheinland for safe and fast charging. The company claims that the adequate capacity of the battery is still greater than 80% after completing 1600 charge and discharge cycles.

The smartphone was previously listed in 3C and TENAA, revealing its model numbers. It is said to come with many improvements over the existing Realme GT Neo 3 series. The 240W fast charging variant came with RMX3708 as the model number and is equipped with RMX3706 for the 150W variant. The TENAA revealed the key specifications of the smartphone.

The Realme GT Neo 5 will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution with 2772 × 1240 pixels. The screen will support a refresh rate of 144Hz and 2160Hz PWM dimming. The company has confirmed that it will be available in a new purple colour option.

It has a matte finish on the rear, which uses AG Glass technology. The teaser also reveals two vertical stripes beneath the camera module. Realme has integrated RGB lights within the camera cutout. Previously, the brand has confirmed that it will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. 

On the optics side, it will feature a triple-rear camera setup with a primary 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS. The other sensors are an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. What do you think about the upcoming Realme GT Neo 5 smartphone?
