Realme GT was launched earlier this year in China. The smartphone is rumoured to launch in India very soon. It has visited several certification websites, hinting at an imminent launch. The company has now subtly hinted at the launch of Realme GT in India. The smartphone is a premium offering and is expected to launch between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 in India. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood. The phone comes with a 6.43-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Let’s take a look at the Realme GT 5G launch in India, specifications, expected price, and other details.

Realme GT 5G India launch teased by the company

Realme has teased the launch of GT 5G in India. The Snapdragon 888-powered 5G smartphone is expected to arrive in India early next month.

Realme subtly teased the launch of the GT 5G in India while announcing the device’s support for Android 12 beta 1. “With our upcoming realmeGT, we are among the first brands to support Android 12 Beta 1. Our aim has always been to bring the best for our users, stay tuned to find out more,” the company’s official India division tweeted.

The device is getting its beta update later this month. It currently ships with Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box. While getting quick access to the latest Android update is appreciated, does it make sense for the phone to launch in India?

Does the smartphone’s launch in India make sense?

Currently, the world is facing a semiconductor shortage. Qualcomm had previously informed its vendors there could be a delay of weeks before enough chips are restocked.

The sub-Rs 30-40,000 smartphone market is quite minuscule in India. Realme needs to really amp up the production to keep the costs down in order to compete with other phones in the price range. Also, the other specs apart from the Snapdragon 888 SoC are pretty mediocre. Therefore, the company needs to launch the device at a really affordable price to make the headlines. Looking at the segment’s volume in terms of sales, combined with the chip shortage situation, it would be interesting to see the device’s price in India if it is launched. The phone was launched in China for CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs 34,000) for the base 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Other phones like the iQOO 7 Legend and the Mi 11X Pro are already available in India for under Rs 40,000.
