Late last month, Oppo’s sub-brand Realme, launched the all new Realme U1 smartphone in India. This is the world’s first smartphone to feature the MediaTek P70 chipset. The phone is a budget offering and is the latest in the Realme series. The fairly new company has been doing very well in the country. While the company has only been selling phones so far, it announced two new accessories during the launch of the Realme U1 (Review). The brand has now unveiled the Realme U1 Iconic Case built specifically, for the Realme U1, alongside Realme Buds in-ear earphones. During the launch, we were not given any details regarding the availability of these accessories.

Realme U1 Iconic Case

While we already knew the pricing for the Realme U1 Iconic Case, we did not know when it would be available for purchase. That cat is out of the bag now, and CEO Madhav Sheth let it out during an AMA on Twitter. Sheth recently started a Q&A series on Twitter called #AskMadhav, where fans were given the opportunity to ask questions about the company and its products. In the second episode of this series, he was asked about the availability of the Iconic Case and the Realme Buds. He then confirmed that both these accessories will be available for purchase in January. The Realme U1 Iconic case is priced at INR 499 and will be available for purchase from Amazon India and Realme online store.

The Realme U1 Iconic Case is a nice looking case that should provide good fall protection. The case features a flexible TRU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) construction for the back and has a TPU bumper. This case also comes with a raised lip on the front to protect the display during a fall, and has recessed cutouts for the camera and the fingerprint scanner. This will protect the camera lens from scratching and also make it easier for your finger to find the scanner.

The back of the case features Realme stencil cutouts and its slogan ‘Proud to be Young’. These cutouts will showcase the color of the phone, which is pretty cool. The case has a wrist strap attachment at the bottom and tactile buttons. It is available in Black or Yellow color options.

Realme Buds with Google Assistant Button

Alongside the Iconic Case, Realme also announced its very first pair of earphones called Realme Buds. These Buds are also priced at INR 499 and will be available for purchase via Amazon India, Flipkart, and the Realme online store.

The Realme Buds are a pair of wired in-ear earphones that are only available in Black. They have yellow accents around the main speaker cable housing and also have built in magnets. These are probably the cheapest earphones in the market that come with magnets in the body. The earphones uses large 11mm audio drivers and Realme claims that these drivers are about 160 percent louder than standard 10mm drivers. We will have to try it out to find out.

The cables on the Realme Buds use kevlar fibre for improved durability. The earphones also feature in-line controls and a microphone, which means that you can make calls hands-free. The in-line controls include a Play/Pause button and Volume UP or Down. The center Play/Pause button can also be used to launch Google Assistant.
