Realme X Spider-Man: Far From Home Edition Goes on Sale in China, India Launch Set for July 15

Last month, a leak had suggested that Realme was working on a special edition Spider-Man: Far From Home-themed case for the Realme X. Later, it was revealed that this was, in fact, a special edition smartphone that would feature a Spider-Man Far From Home-themed box and protective case, along with a custom skin baked onto the phone’s software. Well, this special edition Realme X is now up for grabs in China at a retail price of CNY 1799 (approx. INR 18,000).

There seems to be no change to the exterior of the actual handset. Upon the purchase of a Realme X Spider-Man edition, buyers will be received a Steam White color variant of the smartphone with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The changes mostly have been done to the UI. First up is the Spider-Man: Far From Home wallpaper that features Spider-Man’s chest emblem seen on the MCU version of the web slinger’s suit. Then there are all the system icons that have been redesigned with blue, and golden accents. Some even have the icon spider logo on them.

This special edition phone does come packaged in an ostentatious gift box. As you can see from the images, the outer sleeve is a bright red with the phone’s and movie’s branding printed on it. The internal box is white in color with a circular Spider-Man logo in the center. This same logo has been printed in the middle of the special edition, red-colored protective case that is provided in the box. The rest of the accessories included are the VOOC fast charger, a USB Type-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool.

Realme X India Launch On July 15

About a week ago, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed that the Realme X would be making its way to the Indian market on July 15. On his twitter, he posted an image of the Realme X Spider-Man: Far From Home Gift Box, which suggests this special edition variant of the phone might also be launched in the country. As far as pricing is concerned, Sheth previously disclosed that the phone would be priced around INR 18,000 to INR 20,000. it is also believed that the phone will be exclusively sold via Flipkart.

Realme X Features

In a way, the Realme X is almost like an upgraded variant of the  Realme 3 Pro (review) that launched in India a few months ago. While both smartphones share quite a few design traits, the higher price tag of the Realme X does make way for better features.

The Realme X boasts of a large 6.5-inch AMOLED screen that bears a Full HD+ resolution. Underneath this screen, is a 6th generation in-screen fingerprint sensor. There is no notch at the top of this screen, and the credit for this goes to the use of a pop-up mechanism up top that houses the selfie camera. This screen also gets Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The camera housed in the pop-up unit bears a resolution of 16MP. Meanwhile, the back of the handset features a 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture that is paired with a 5MP depth sensor.

At its heart, the Realme X posses a Snapdragon 710 chipset. While we don’t know which exact storage models the OPPO sub-brand plans to launch in India, the Chinese options of the device include a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model and an 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The battery on this phone measures 3700mAh and supports 21W VOOC 3,0 fast charging.
