MediaTek Dimensity 820: Specs and features
MediaTek announced that it will be debuting the new 5G-enabled Dimensity 820 SoC on the Redmi 10X. The chipset is said to slot in between the gaming-focused Helio G90T and the high-end Dimensity 1000. Apart from 5G capabilities, the Dimensity 820 also brings support for up to 120Hz refresh rate and fast CPU and GPU performance. The integrated 5G modem on the SoC can support oth Standalone (SA) and Non-standalone (NSA) Sub-6GHz networks.
As per MediaTek, the Dimensity 820 SoC is built on an nm FinFET process and it has eight ARM cores in a big.LITTLE arrangement. There are four Cortex A76 CPU that have a max clock speed of 2.6GHz as compared to the 2.0GHz seen on the Dimensity 800. The other four are Cortex-A55 CPUs for handling low-intensity tasks and are clocked at 2.0GHz.
The SoC has the ARM Mali-G57 GPU and it is supported by MediaTek’s HyerEngine 2.0 which has software-based enhancements for better gaming performance. Then there is also MiraVision technology which will let OEMs employ features such as upscaling SDR content to HDR, improve 24/30 fps content to 60 fps, and more. In the imaging department, the Dimensity 820 can support up to an 80MP primary sensor which can be paired on a quad-camera setup.
