Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, 6A, Mi 6X, More Xiaomi Phones Receive MIUI 10 Stable ROM; Here’s How to Update

Something which is supposed to be excellent news for Redmi 6 series buyers, the three new Xiaomi budget devices have started receiving an OTA update for MIUI 10 Stable ROM in China. The new version of the Xiaomi software is based on Android 8.1 Oreo but also takes several features from Android 9 Pie, such as swipe gestures.

How to Update Xiaomi Phones for MIUI 10 Stable ROM

Some Chinese websites reported on September 10 that about 12 Xiaomi devices, including the very brand new Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, have started receiving the much-awaited MIUI 10 Stable ROM. We had reported that a new Global Beta update was released recently and that the Stable ROM seemed to be coming shortly.

Now, users of these 12 Xiaomi devices — Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Xiaomi Note 2, Xiaomi 8SE, Xiaomi MIX 2, Xiaomi MIX, Redmi S2, Xiaomi 6, Xiaomi 6X, Xiaomi 5, and Redmi Note 5 — have started receiving an over-the-air (OTA) update for the new software, which means they can simply go to ‘settings’ and check for MIUI 10 in the System Updates section. While the ROM is a stable and official version, it is still advisable to save important data.

Also, several other devices such as Mi MIX 2S and Mi 8 have not yet received the update as they are still in the soak test phase. Sources say the MIUI 10 Stable ROM update will reach these devices soon.

Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, Redmi 6 Pro: Specifications, Features

The three new smartphones from Xiaomi in the Redmi 6 series are aimed at budget smartphone buyers, and two of them replace existing bestsellers from the Chinese brand. The Redmi 6A is the successor to the highly successful Redmi 5A, and the Redmi 6 comes as the next iteration of the Redmi 5, which has its own fan following. The Redmi 6 Pro is a new model, coming in as the high-end variant of the Redmi 6.

Among the three handsets, the Redmi 6 Pro is the only one that comes with a notched display, and the Redmi 6A is the only one that does not get a fingerprint sensor. The Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 both come with a 5.45-inch IPS LCD screen that gets HD resolution (720×1440 pixels) and a full bezel on top.

All three phones ship with MIUI 9 user interface based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but as we mentioned above, they have started receiving the new MIUI 10 update. The Redmi 6A is powered by a 2.0 GHz Mediatek Helio A22 chipset and comes in 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM options. The smaller RAM model gets 16GB of internal storage while the larger one gets 32GB.

The Redmi 6 is powered by a 2.0GHz Mediatek Helio P22 SoC, which is paired to a 3GB RAM. The phone gets 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and you can stretch the internal storage to 256GB on both phones using the SIM 2 slot.

The Redmi 6 Pro is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and is paired to either a 3GB RAM or a 4GB RAM. The 3GB RAM variant gets 32GB of storage and the 4GB RAM variant gets 64GB.

Both the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro get a 12MP+5MP rear dual camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie sensor. The Redmi 6A also gets the same 5MP selfie shooter but another 13MP single-sensor rear camera.

All three phones get the standard connectivity specs such as microUSB 2.0, but the Redmi 6 Pro gets Infrared support and dual-band WiFi also. The battery on the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A is a 3000mAh unit while the battery on the Redmi 6 Pro is 4000mAh with 10W fast charging adapter.

Redmi 6 Series: Price in India

The Redmi 6 went on sale yesterday, on September 10 and the Redmi 6 Pro goes on sale today, on the 11th. Buyers of Redmi 6A will have to wait till September 19 for its release. The Redmi 6 costs Rs 7,999 for the 32GB storage variant and Rs 9,499 for the 64GB variant. The Redmi 6 Pro will sell for Rs 10,999 in the 3GB RAM model and Rs 12,999 in the 4GB RAM option. The Redmi 6A will sell for Rs 5,999 for 16GB storage and Rs 6,999 for 32GB storage.

The Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi 6A will sell on Amazon.in while the Redmi 6 will sell on Flipkart. All three phones will also sell simultaneously on Mi.com.
