Alongside the Redmi Y3, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 7 in India today. The Redmi 7 is basically the Redmi Y3, but with an inferior selfie camera and different RAM and storage configurations. The Redmi 7 comes as the successor to the Redmi 6 that was launched last year. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi 7 is the biggest upgrade in its series. Xiaomi Redmi 7 Price in India, Availability
The Redmi 7 is available in two variants – 2GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. The 2GB + 32GB variant costs INR 7,999. And the 3GB + 32GB variant costs INR 8,999. Xiaomi will sell the Redmi 7 in flash sales. And the first flash sale is scheduled for 29th April at 12 PM. The Redmi 7 will be available from Mi online store, Amazon India, and Mi Home. The device will also be available from Mi Store, Mi Studio, and Mi Preferred Partners, but the brand hasn’t announced the availability dates to buy the device from these stores.
Xiaomi Redmi 7 Specifications
The Redmi 7 has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution. The display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection, making the Redmi 7 the only device in the segment to feature it. The display has minimal bezels and a Dot Notch. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi 7’s display can offer up to 450 nits brightness.
The Redmi 7 has a 12MP + 2MP dual-camera at the back, where the 12MP unit is the primary camera sensor, and the 2MP unit is a depth-sensor. The rear camera features AI Portrait mode, AI scene detection, Google Lens built-in, and Full HD video recording at 60 frames per second. The front-facing camera is an 8MP unit. And even it features AI Portrait mode. The front-facing camera also comes with AI beauty, and auto-HDR.
The Xiaomi Redmi 7 features the Snapdragon 632 chipset, which is a huge upgrade from the Snapdragon 450 that the Redmi 6 has. The Snapdragon 632 has octa-core Kryo CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The Redmi 7 is available in two configurations – 2GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage. Needless to say, the Redmi 7 offers Android 9 Pie operating system with MIUI 10 customization.
Xiaomi has also bumped the battery capacity of the Redmi 7 compared to its predecessor; it has a 4000mAh battery. The connectivity options on the Redmi 7 include triple card slot (two SIM cards + microSD card slot), dual-4G, dual-VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Redmi 7 has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. And there is also a face unlock option. The Redmi 7 also features splash-resistance, for which, it has P2i coating. The device will be available in three color variants — Lunar Red, Comet Blue, and Eclipse Black.
