Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 have started receiving MIUI 11 in India
The latest MIUI 11 update for both the Redmi 8 and the Redmi 8A come with the same model number – 11.0.1.0.PCPINXM, the difference lies in the size. While the update for the Redmi 8 sizes 600MB, the same for the Redmi 8A weighs in at 544MB. This, however, does not change any features the devices have got and the update is the same from within.
It should be noted that the MIUI 11 update is still baked on top of Android 9 Pie only and the company has so far not talked about when the latest Android 10 (stable) update would start rolling out.
As far as the changelog is concerned, MIUI 11 brings a lot of good with it. Some of the noteworthy features of MIUI 11 are as follows –
MIUI 11 features
- A new system-wide dark mode
- A redesigned Mi Calculator app
- Dynamic lock screen effects
- Steps tracker
- A revamped Mi File Manager app
- Short Video mode
- Wallpaper carousel
- Mi Go feature that comes with an extreme power-saving mode

On top of the Indian rollout schedule, Xiaomi is adhering to its timeline pretty well in China as well. As the company promised, the second batch of the Xiaomi/Redmi devices has also started receiving MIUI 11 update in China. The second batch includes the likes of devices like the Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi Note 7, and the Mi CC9.
Just to refresh your memory, the Redmi 8 comes with a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch at the top. We get a dual rear camera with the Redmi 8 (12MP + 2MP) and an 8MP selfie snapper.
Under the hood, the Redmi 8 comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The Redmi 8 comes with a beefy 5,000mAh battery which surprisingly has 18W of fast charging. At this price point, this is pretty amazing a feat to achieve.
Moving on to the Redmi 8A, the device has more or less the same specifications as the Redmi 8 (with some features being toned-down). At the back, we get just a single 12MP unit while the front camera is still an 8MP snapper. While the Redmi 8 features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, the Redmi 8A ditches the same.
Both the Redmi 8 and the Redmi 8A come with a 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, and a uniquely designed rear panel.
