Xiaomi is tipped to launch two new Redmi smartphones in India, MySmartPrice has learnt. The information coms courtesy tipster Ishan Agarwal, who revealed the upcoming development from the Redmi portfolio exclusively to MySmartPrice. According to Agarwal, the company is set to launch two new phones – Redmi 9 Activ and Redmi 9A Sport in India, and both the phones will largely be derivative variants of the already existing Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A smartphones in the country. In tow will be new RAM and storage variants, along with one new paint variant each for both the smartphones.

Redmi 9 Activ: what to expect

The Redmi 9 Activ is tipped to launch in a new Metallic Purple colour variant, which would be different from the usual colour options that the regular Redmi 9 is available in. The smartphone will feature two variants – with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, respectively. Given that the smartphone is tipped to be based on the regular Redmi 9 Prime, the rest of the smartphone should feature the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC.

Other features may include a 6.53-inch HD+ display, and a 13MP dual rear camera. The smartphone should also feature a rear mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery to power the entire setup. It is not clear if the Redmi 9 Activ may also come with any standout design feature to justify its ‘Activ’ tag.

Redmi 9A Sport: what to expect

In comparison, the Redmi 9A Sport is tipped to feature a Metallic Blue colour variant, while RAM and storage variants are 2GB + 32GB, and 3GB + 32GB. Other features include the same display size and resolution as the Redmi 9, the MediaTek Helio G25 SoC, a single 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a 5,000mAh battery as well. The overall package is tipped to be from one of the most affordable price segments, and with its new colour, Xiaomi is likely looking to keep its budget smartphone range refreshed – until the next generation is introduced as well.

Both the new Redmi 9 series smartphones should launch in India soon, but a launch date is yet to be revealed.
