After making a few rounds on the internet via the realm of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has finally taken the veil off its brand-new smartphone dubbed the Redmi 9 in Spain. The Redmi 9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor and features a quadruple rear camera setup. The device is currently launched in the European country and while we await an official word from the company about the Redmi 9 launch in the remaining parts of the world, we now have all its specifications and features. Redmi 9: Price and availability

The Redmi 9 is priced at EUR 149 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant and EUR 179 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant. The device comes in three color schemes – Sunset Purple, Ocean Green, and Carbon Grey. As mentioned earlier, we are not sure as to when the Redmi 9 will hit the other markets in the world.

Redmi 9: Specifications and features

Starting with the display of the device, the Redmi 9 sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a 394 pixel per inch PPI, 400 nits brightness, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a 70 percent NTSC color gamut. The Redmi 9 features a waterdrop notch at the top of the display, which makes room for an 8MP selfie shooter.

Moving around on the rear of the device, the Redmi 9 comes with a quadruple rear camera setup, which consists of a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Right underneath the camera module, the Redmi 9 features a physical fingerprint scanner. The device, however, has scope for facial unlocking as well.

Powering the Redmi 9 is an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor, which is clubbed with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. The internal storage of the Redmi 9 has scope for further expansion with the help of an external SD card. Coming to the OS, the Redmi 9 runs Android 9-based MIUI 11 out of the box. Speaking of the battery of the device, the Redmi 9 sports a large 5,020mAh battery, which has support for up to 18W of fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port. The Redmi 9 retains a 3.5mm headphone jack for those concerned.
