Xiaomi Redmi 9 users are already the MIUI 12 update on their smartphones in China, but the global variants are still in queue to receive the update. The smartphone rebranded as Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime in India is also expected to receive the newly introduced custom MIUI 12 skin with the update. However, it has been reported that the company has started rolling out the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi 9 Prime for some selected Indian users.
According to PiunikaWeb report, Mi Community feedback team member confirmed that the limited number of Redmi 9 Prime Indian users has received the last custom UI update. Citing the community member the report also suggests that the global variants of the Redmi 9 will only start receiving the OTA update once the developers are satisfied with the quality of the update.
Please note that MIUI 12 for Redmi 9 is already rolled out to all users of China ROM and limited users of India ROM, for other ROMs including Global ROM, it will release once it is ready by devs.

Do note that, there is no report so far from any Indian users about the Redmi 9 Prime receiving the MIUI 12 update. Earlier it was reported that the Redmi 9 Prime will start receiving the update from October 15. However, the company is yet to make any official announcement about the update. According to the report, all the Xiaomi device will receive the MIUI 12 update by the end of October. Let’s see when Indian users will receive the update.
Just to recall, Redmi 9 Prime was launched in India with a 6.5-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2340 resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone runs on MIUI 11 version built over Android 10 operating system.
