On the specs front, the two phones are powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset. Both the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9A Sport have and are fitted with 5000 mAh batteries. They have HD+ displays and drop the metallic builds from more expensive Redmi phones, opting instead for a polycarbonate design.

Specifically, the Redmi 9A has a 6.53 inch HD+ display with 1600×720 pixel resolution. There’s also a waterdrop notch on the front, which holds the selfie camera on the device. The Media Tek Helio G25 chipset also has the IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, and the phone will be available with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage inside. You can also get micro-SD expansion, which is still popular in this segment. The phone will support 4G LTE connectivity and also has a built-in 3.5mm jack.

While the Redmi 9A has a single 13MP camera on the back, the Redmi 9A Sport has two cameras on its rear. It also has a secondary shooter, which is enhanced by AI algorithms and has a LED flash next to it. There’s a 5MP snapper on the front of the device, and the battery on the Redmi 9A Sport is bigger at 5200 mAh as well.

The Redmi 9A Sport also has P2i coating, which should make it slightly resistant to water. The two phones run on Android 10 out of the box, with Xiaomi’s MIUI interface.
