
Xiaomi, last year, launched the Redmi A1 series in India and a few other markets. The Redmi A1 series is Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone series and offers entry-level specs. The A1 series might get its upgraded version soon. XIaomi is reportedly working on the Redmi A2 series already. The upcoming A-series smartphones from Redmi are expected to launch in the coming weeks. The launch seems imminent as a new leak has revealed the design, specifications and even the price of the Redmi A2 ahead of its launch.
A WinFuture report, citing tipster Roland Quandt, revealed that the A2 will feature MediaTek’s newest entry-level SoC, the G36. The report also revealed that the phone will launch in at least three colour options. Let’s take a look at the Redmi A2 price, specifications, design and other features ahead of the launch.
Redmi A2 Price and Specifications
The Redmi A2 will look identical to its predecessor, the A1. The phone is said to launch in three colour options in Europe – Black, Blue and Green. According to the leaked details, the phone will be priced at around EUR 97 (roughly Rs 8,600). The phone will have 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on offer.
In terms of hardware, the phone has a plastic back and frame. It has a squircle-shaped camera module on the back with a dual-camera setup and an LED flash. The device also sports a waterdrop notch at the top of the display. The chin bezel, among all, is quite thick. The frame is also flat and has the power and volume buttons on the right side. The left edge has room for the SIM slot.
The phone will feature the new MediaTek Helio G36 SoC under the hood. The SoC is a successor to the much old Helio G35 SoC. The 12nm-based octa-core chipset has a peak clock speed of 2.2GHz and features ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores. The Helio G36 SoC also supports up to 90Hz refresh rate displays and a 50MP camera.
As mentioned above, there is 32GB of storage on offer. The phone will reportedly support 512GB of storage expansion via a microSD card. There will also be support for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, etc. The device will offer a dual-SIM slot and unfortunately feature a micro-USB port as well.
On the front, there will be a 6.52-inch IPS LCD with an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back, which suggests that it will be reserved for the A2+ model. On the back, the phone will have an 8MP primary camera that can record up to 1080p videos. There will also be a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone will have a 5MP front camera.

The Redmi A2 is also said to pack a 5000mAh battery. It will support only 10W charging in Europe. The phone will have a single speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will launch with the latest Android 13 (Go Edition) update out of the box.
