The Redmi K20, one of the best mid-range smartphones in India, is going to get even better with a new software update. The MIUI 11 software, launched alongside Note 8 line-up, has started rolling out for Xiaomi’s mid-range champion. The stable MIUI 11 Global ROM is dubbed V11.0.2.0 and is being pushed to the Redmi K20 in batches. It brings in plenty of new features and refinements along with performance improvements.

Xiaomi Redmi K20 MIUI 11 Changelog:

The first MIUI 11 change comes from the lock screen. Xiaomi has fixed the fingerprint sensor that failed to appear on the lock screen. The new software irons out the bug that retained the fingerprint icon even after the unlocking. The phone now has a pocket mode to avoid lighting up the display on unwanted touches. Xiaomi has removed the unesesarry sound notifications from the DND mode. The screenshot mode has got a new quick edit and share option. The MI community forum also lists the following optimization features, which I fail to make any sense of: “Improved UI and layouts for selecting items that are displayed on the turned off-screen” and “Use your fingerprint to open Home screen once you unlocked the device using face data and stayed on the Lock screen” If you know what this means, do let us know in the comments section.

The always-on-display feature, which takes advantage of the AMOLED screen now offers more clock formats. Xiaomi has refined full-screen apps for better touch controls and streamlined experience. For mobile gamers, there’s a revamped Game Turbo feature. This mode automatically disables auto-brightness, screenshot gestures, and reading mode when playing games. As a part of the productive suite, Xiaomi has added a new Mi Doc Viewer. The messaging apps now offer the quick reply option that opens right from the notification shade. The new update comes Mi Share file transfer app that shares files over Wi-Fi. In terms of notifications, the new software introduces nature-inspired sounds. Finally, the V11.0.2.0 ROM comes with the September 2019 Security Patch.
