Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro

After the groundbreaking entry of the POCO F1 (Review) last year, Xiaomi is repeating the same feat this year with the launch of the Redmi K20 series in India. Today, India’s largest smartphone brand has launched the Redmi K20 Pro in India. The Redmi K20 series—Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro—was launched in China during May 2019 and Indian consumers had been eagerly waiting ever since for the company to launch those phones in the country.

The Redmi K20 Pro will compete with the likes of the ASUS 6Z, Honor 20, OnePlus 7, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, and Realme’s upcoming smartphone with Snapdragon 855 chipset. The Redmi K20 Pro might not have as brilliant a camera as that of the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom or the brilliant stereo speakers that you can find on the ASUS 6Z and the OnePlus 7, but the phone gets a lot of basics right, and that too at really attractive pricing. Let’s find out its pricing and then look at its specifications.

Redmi K20 Pro Price In India, Availability, Launch Offers.

The Redmi K20 Pro price in India starts at INR 27,999 for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at INR 30,999. The Redmi K20 Pro Signature Edition, which has a pure gold back, is priced at INR 4,80,000, but all of that is the value of the gold and the company claims that it is not charing for the phone at all.

The Alpha Sale of the phone starts 8 PM on 17 July through Flipkart and Mi.com. The phone will be available through Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores starting July 22. The phone will also be available through Mi Partner stores and other retail stores very soon, but the company hasn’t revealed a particular date for that happening.

Those who buy the phone during this period will get flat INR 2,000 off when a purchase is made through ICICI Bank credit cards and debit cards through an EMI scheme. Potential buyers can also head to Mi Home stores to pre-order the phone and they’ll be eligible to receive the INR 2,000 discount through ICICI Bank credit and debit cards if the purchase is made through an EMI scheme. Those who buy the phone in the first sale on the 22nd of July 2019 will be eligible for INR 1,000 discount through EMI transactions made using ICICI credit and debit cards.

Airtel is offering Double Data benefit with pre-paid plans to Redmi K20 series buyers where they’ll get 2GB+2GB data with the INR 249 plan and 2.5GB+2.5GB data with the INR 299 plan.

The Premium Liquid Silicon Case for the Redmi K20 series, which will be available in Black, Blue, and Red, is priced at INR 499.

Redmi K20 Pro Features, Specifications

The Redmi K20 Pro uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, and it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. There’s no microSD card slot in this phone, so storage expansion at a later stage won’t be possible. The phone will also be available in a variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Redmi K20 Pro runs Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 software user interface. The phone has a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, HDR10 capability, and Gorilla Glass 5. There’s an under-display fingerprint reader, too.

The phone uses an aluminum frame and glass at the front and the rear. The Redmi K20 Pro has triple-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 48MP main sensor with a wide-angle lens, a 13MP sensor with an ultrawide-angle lens, and an 8MP sensor with a 2x optical zoom lens. Both the 48MP and the 8MP camera sensors are equipped with PDAF and laser autofocus. The phone has a dual-LED flash and can record 4K 60fps videos, too. At the front, the phone has a 20MP motorized pop-up selfie camera with F2.2 aperture and 1080p 30fps video recording.

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro has a dual-SIM card slot with dual-4GLTE and dual-VoLTE connectivity. Other connectivity features of the phone include Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 27W with Quick Charge 4+ charger. Overall, it looks like a killer smartphone in its price category. The only features that it is missing are some form of water resistance and stereo speakers, but then we would be wanting too much for its price.
