Xiaomi’s Redmi K series has been one of the most successful devices for the brand. The series debuted with the launch of the Redmi K20 two years ago, which was widely acclaimed by both fans and critics alike. Now, Xiaomi is all set to release the latest entry in the family, the Redmi K40. According to the official Weibo handle of Xiaomi, the Redmi K40 will be launched on February 25th, 2021. As the launch event draws closer, we are getting some more information about what we can expect from Xiaomi’s latest offering.
Redmi K40 promotional poster showcases Mi 11-inspired Camera Module
According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi has unveiled a promotional poster for the Redmi K40 which reveals the first look of the device. The camera module at back is quite similar to the one present in the Mi 11. It is rectangular in shape, with rounded corners. There is a triple camera setup at the back of the device. The device also features a mysterious hole in the middle just beside the camera, which is likely the microphone.
In the poster, we see the black variant of the device which features a graphite-like pattern. In all probability, the smartphone will be available in other colors as well.
Redmi K40 Specifications – 120Hz Display, Snapdragon 888, Dolby Atmos, and more
A series of promotional posters released by Xiaomi revealed earlier reveal a significant chunk of specifications of the Redmi K40. Firstly, Xiaomi has confirmed that the device will be featuring a 120Hz AMOLED display. Xiaomi will be using the Samsung E4 panels this time along, which we saw in the Mi 11 as well. Some notable improvements of the E4 display include higher peak brightness, lower power consumption and better picture quality. Considering that the K30 and K30 Pro had a 60Hz display, this is quite a significant update for the series.
Another notable feature is the size of the punch hole. Xiaomi uses a few items to compare the size of the punch-hole. As per the comparison, the punch-hole display is even smaller than a sesame seed which is merely 2mm in diameter. Xiaomi had already claimed that the device will feature the world’s smallest punch-hole.
There is an emphasis on high-tier in the device audio as well. Xiaomi has confirmed that the K40 will be featuring Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. Alongside that, Dolby Atmos will be supported as well. The brand has also revamped fingerprint scanner technology. It now offers a larger area and will be significantly faster. It was already confirmed previously that the device will be featuring the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 SoC.
For now, the Redmi K40 definitely seems like quite an interesting device. That being said, there is uncertainty regarding the smartphone’s fate outside of China. Rumors have suggested that the device might launch globally under the name Redmi Note 10 moniker. Considering that Xiaomi has a similar record for other devices in the past, this shouldn’t be surprising. With the device’s launch just a few days away, we should learn more about it pretty soon.
