Redmi K60 Series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC Tipped to Launch Later This Month

Xiaomi could launch the Redmi K60 series much earlier than expected. The Redmi flagship phones were expected to launch in January.

Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi 13 series in China. The company launched two premium smartphones, namely the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. Next, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi K-series flagship phones. The company has teased the launch and reportedly confirmed that the Redmi K60 Gaming is not happening. Xiaomi is instead said to launch three new devices. These will be called the K60, K60 Pro and K60E. The K60E will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, according to the official confirmation.

Xiaomi was rumoured to launch the Redmi K60 series in January 2023 in China. However, the launch could take place sooner than expected. A new report has revealed the possible launch timeline of the upcoming Redmi flagship smartphones.

Redmi K60 Series Launch Tipped for December

Xiaomi could launch the Redmi K60 series much earlier than expected. The Redmi flagship phones were expected to launch in January. However, the company might unveil its new flagship smartphones under the sub-brand in December itself. Tipster Digital Chat Station revealed (via) that the company is working on launching the phones by the end of this month. Redmi has not officially confirmed any details about the same. However, the company might make an announcement soon and host the event in a few days.

Xiaomi has hosted flagship phone launch events during the last week of the year. However, the launches are typically for Xiaomi, formerly known as Mi-branded flagship devices. While Digital Chat Station is known for their accuracy, we advise taking the leaked launch timeline with a pinch of salt until there is some official confirmation.

In addition to the launch timeline, the tipster also revealed that the K60E will launch as a successor to the Redmi K50. The K60 will debut as a successor to the K50 Pro, whereas the K60 Pro will be a successor to the K50 Gaming.

The tipster also added that the K60 series will feature one device with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It has been rumoured that the K60 5G will get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, whereas the K60 Pro will feature the older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The K60E is confirmed to feature a Dimensity 8200 SoC.

Other leaked details suggest that the K60 5G will sport a 6.67-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will support 67W fast charging for the 5500mAh battery and also offer 30W wireless charging support. This would be the first time that a Redmi phone will provide wireless charging support. The K60 Pro is said to offer 120W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. The K60E will sit at the bottom with 67W wired charging support.

Xiaomi is also rumoured to launch one of the K60 series devices with a 50MP triple-camera setup on the back. Another phone is likely to feature a triple-camera setup with a 64MP main camera sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. There will feature a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Xiaomi is likely to launch the K60 5G with up to 12GB of RAM

The devices might make their way to India. While we do not expect all of them to be available in India, Xiaomi might launch at least one Redmi K-series phone, possibly the Redmi K60E.

Other details of the Redmi flagships are under wraps. We will share more details as and when available. Meanwhile, let us know your thoughts about the upcoming Redmi smartphones in the comments below.
