The Redmi Note 12 Series is set to launch on January 5, 2023 in India. The company has confirmed that it will launch three smartphones at the event – Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G. Redmi has already confirmed the major specifications and designs of the devices. However, thanks to the China launch of these devices, we are aware of their full specifications. It will have a 200MP camera sensor, 120Hz AMOLED display, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) support, and more. Redmi is planning a big overhaul with the Redmi Note 12 series and is all set to introduce some state-of-the-art features that will be a game-changer in this price segment. We feel that the Redmi Note 12 Series will be exciting and we will tell you the reason for it but before that let’s check what these devices have to offer.
Redmi Note 12 5G Expected Specifications and Features
The Redmi Note 12 5G will be the most affordable offering in the whole lineup. It is the only phone from the series that will be available on Amazon whereas other devices will be available on Flipkart. Xiaomi has confirmed that the device will pack a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset under the hood. After iQOO Z6 Lite (review), it is the only device in India to use this processor. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 is manufactured on a 6nm processor and brings with it 2 × Cortex A78 cores, clocked at 2.0 GHz.
Coming to the display, it will sport a 6.67-inch Flat AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display is likely to have support for a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 1200 nits of peak brightness.
The phone has a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The China variant boots Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box but we can expect the company to ship the Redmi Note 12 5G with the latest Android 13-based MIUI 14 in India.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Expected Specifications and Features
The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G will sit between the Note 12 5G and the Note 12 Pro+ 5G in India. The company is advertising its Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) support as its core feature. It will have a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor. The camera setup will also feature an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, it will use a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, the device will pack a Mediatek Dimensity 1080 chipset. It is the same processor that Realme is using on the Realme 10 Pro Plus 5G. The System-on-chip (SoC) is likely to be coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is expected to boot Android 13-based MIUI 14 out of the box.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G will pack a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 67W charging. Last, the phone will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display will support a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 900 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ content.
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ Expected Specifications and Features
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will be priced on the higher side compared to the rest models in the lineup. It will be one of those phones in India that uses a 200MP camera sensor. The 200MP Samsung HPX sensor will feature an f/1.65 aperture and support Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Rest, it will include an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, it will use a 16MP front shooter.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will have the same specifications as its sibling, the Note 12 Pro 5G. This means that the phone will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display will support 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 900 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ content.
Like the Note 12 Pro, the Pro+ variant will also use a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset under the hood. The processor will most likely be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. We speculate that the company will ship its latest device with the Android 13-based MIUI 14 operating system in India.
Moreover, the Note 12 Pro+ is confirmed to feature 120W fast charging that the company claims can charge the device’s 5,000mAh battery from 0 to 100% in around 19 minutes.

The Redmi Note 12 Series Looks Exciting, Here’s Why
The Redmi Note 12 Series seems to be a massive upgrade over its predecessor with 120W charging support, a 200-megapixel camera sensor, Mediatek Dimensity 1080 chip, and so on.
There’re hardly any phones in India that offer such specifications in the mid-budget segment. Infinix recently launched its Zero Ultra (review) with similar specifications but it lacks a few features compared to the Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Redmi is known for its ‘honest pricing’ and it will interesting to see how the company will manage to offer such specifications for under Rs 30,000 in the country.
