Xiaomi has launched its new Redmi Note 12 series. The new Redmi Note 12 series includes four new phones. These are the Note 12 5G, Note 12 5G Discovery Edition (aka the Note 12 5G Explorer Edition), Note 12 Pro 5G and the Note 12 Pro+ 5G. Yes, all three Note 12 series phones support 5G at launch. The devices have also received quite some upgrades over the outgoing models.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is also the first smartphone in the entire lineup’s history to feature a new 200MP main camera. The company has used Samsung’s new 200MP HPX sensor for the 12 Pro+ 5G’s main camera. The devices also come with the latest set of processors and super fast charging out of the box. Redmi Note 12 Series Price and Specifications
The Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition is the most affordable of the three phones launched in the lineup. It comes with 8GB + 256GB storage. The phone is priced at CNY 2399 (roughly Rs 27,400).
There is also the Note 12 Pro 5G, which comes in 6GB + 128GB. 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB storage options. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB variants are priced at CNY 1699 (roughly Rs 19,300) and CNY 1799 (roughly Rs 20,500). The 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB storage options, on the other hand, are priced at CNY 1999(roughly Rs 22,800) and CNY 2199(roughly Rs 25,100), respectively.
The Note 12 Pro+ 5G also arrives with 8GB/ 12GB RAM options along with 256GB of internal storage as standard. They are priced at CNY 2199(roughly Rs 25,100) and CNY 2399(roughly Rs 27,400), respectively.
In terms of specifications, all three phones feature a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC under the hood. The new 6nm SoC comes with a peak clock speed of 2.6GHz. While the Note 12 Pro and Pro+ 5G pack a 5000mAh battery, the Note 12 Explorer Edition packs a smaller 4350mAh cell. However, the Note 12 5G is the fastest charging phone with 210W fast charging support. The Note 12 Pro and Note 12 Pro+ 5G support 67W and 120W fast charging, respectively.
All three devices feature a 3.5mm headphone jack and run MIUI 13 out of the box. The devices also feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate support. The screens have a peak brightness of 900 nits and support Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content.
The camera setup is where the biggest differences lie. The Note 12 Pro+ 5G and the Note 12 5G Explorer Edition feature a triple-camera setup with a 200MP Samsung HPX sensor that features an f/1.65 aperture. The main camera comes with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS). The device also features an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, the phones feature a 16MP front camera.
The Note 12 Pro 5G also features a triple-camera setup on the back. There is a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with OIS support. The camera setup also features an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. It has a 16MP front camera setup.
The Note 12 Pro+ 5G is the heaviest of the three phones. It weighs about 208 grams. The Note 12 Explorer Edition weighs 207.5 grams, whereas the Note 12 Pro weighs 187 grams.
The Note 12 series launched today in China are likely to launch in global markets with different monikers. It would not be a surprise if they launch in India under the Xiaomi branding. The company has not revealed any details officially about the launch of the Redmi Note 12 series in India.
