Redmi has confirmed the launch of a new Note series smartphone. The company has already launched multiple phones in the lineup. As part of the mid-cycle refresh, the company has confirmed the launch of the Note 12R Pro 5G in China. The upcoming Note series smartphone seems like a mid-range smartphone offering. Redmi already has four Pro phones in its current Note series. There is the standard Note 12 Pro 5G, Note 12 Pro 4G, Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, aka the POCO X5 Pro, and the Note 12 Pro+ 5G. The upcoming Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G will sit somewhere between the former three devices mentioned above.
Xiaomi revealed that the Note 12R Pro 5G will launch in China on April 29. There is no word on whether the phone will launch in India or any other markets. While we wait for that, let’s take a look at the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G specifications, features and other details revealed so far.
Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G: What We Know So Far About the New Note Series Smartphone
The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G will be a mid-range smartphone offering in China. The company has confirmed some key specs of the device ahead of its launch. The Note 12R Pro 5G design was teased on Weibo. It confirms that the device has a flat frame design with a curved rear panel. There is a dual-camera setup on the back. The phone has a rectangular camera module on the back. It has two circular cutouts for the dual-camera setup. There is also an LED flash module next to the sensors. The text on the camera module confirms that the phone has a 48MP main camera sensor.
Also, there is the 5G badge next to the Redmi branding, confirming support for the new-generation network.
Redmi has also revealed some key details about the phone. The device will launch in three colour options — Gold, Black and White. The phone seems to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It will also feature a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC under the hood. The same SoC is found in Note 12 5G in India. The dual-SIM 5G smartphone will also come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
On the front, there will be an OLED display. The phone is likely to sport a flat panel. It will come with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The device has an SGS low blue light certification for eye protection as well.
Other details about the Note 12R Pro 5G are unknown. Based on the teased details, we can say that the device might sit between the Note 12 Pro 4G and the Note 12 Pro 5G in Xiaomi’s portfolio.
