Xiaomi has finally launched the much awaited Redmi Note 6 Pro smartphone in India. This is the successor to the immensely popular Redmi Note 5 Pro. It features improved internals, better cameras, and a slightly updated design. In this post, we are going to compare the Redmi Note 6 Pro with the Realme 2 Pro and another Xiaomi smartphone, the Mi A2.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Price in India
The Redmi Note 6 Pro is priced similarly to its predecessor. The base variant, which comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, is priced at INR 13,999. If you want 6GB of RAM, then you will have to spend INR 15,999.
In comparison, the similarly spec’d Realme 2 Pro is also priced at INR 13,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Mi A2 is the most expensive one here, which costs INR 15,999. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage as well.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Build and Display
The Redmi Note 6 Pro uses an all metal design just like the previous model. However, it does get a slightly bigger display and a taller 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes with a 6.26-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a notch at the top.
The Oppo made Realme 2 Pro is a better looking device among all three. It has a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a smaller waterdrop notch. Unfortunately, the build quality isn’t that great as the device uses plastic construction.
Xiaomi has used a metal construction on the Mi A2 as well, similar to the Note 6 Pro. It has a smaller 5.99-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and there is no notch.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Hardware and Performance
In the hardware and performance department, the Redmi Note 6 Pro isn’t as powerful as the other two. It uses the same Snapdragon 636 chipset that was present in the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The SoC is coupled with a maximum of 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.
On the other hand, both the Mi A2 and the Realme 2 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Mi A2 maxes out at 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, whereas the Realme 2 Pro comes with a maximum of 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Camera
The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a dual-rear camera setup that is similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, but only in numbers. Xiaomi has added Dual-Pixel auto-focus, a larger sensor, and EIS on the primary 12MP camera. The secondary 5MP sensor remains the same and is used to capture depth information. The phone features a dual-camera setup on the front as well, with a primary 20MP sensor coupled with a 2MP depth unit.
On the Realme 2 Pro, there’s a dual-rear camera setup with a 16MP+2MP sensor combination. It gets a 16MP sensor on the front for selfies.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 has the best camera setup out of the lot. The phone features a dual-rear camera setup with a primary 12MP f/1.8 sensor and a secondary 20MP f/1.8 unit. On the front, the phone has a 20MP selfie camera. In the camera department, the Xiaomi phones should perform better than the Realme 2 Pro.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Battery and OS
The Redmi Note series is known for its battery life and the new Note 6 Pro will not disappoint. It features a large 4000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The Realme 2 Pro grabs second place in the battery category. It has a 3500mAh unit that also supports fast charging. Finally, the Mi A2 has the smallest battery of the lot with 3000mAh capacity.
As for software, the Mi A2 is part of the Android One program and runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo. It should soon be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie. The Realme 2 Pro and the Redmi Note 6 Pro run custom versions of Android based on the Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Oppo’s Realme 2 uses the ColorOS 5.2 UI, while the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with MIUI 10.
Redmi Note 6 Pro vs Realme 2 Pro vs Xiaomi Mi A2: Conclusion
In conclusion, the Realme 2 Pro really shines in terms of value for money. It has the largest display, best design, powerful chipset, and is the cheapest out of the three. However, if cameras and stock Android is your cup of tea, then you should look at the Mi A2. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is for those who want the best battery life along with a big display and a good camera.
