
Xiaomi finally took the wraps off its first smartphone to come out of its Redmi subsidiary on January 9, 2019. We previously noted how the Redmi Note 7 is likely to present tough competition to other brands who have enjoyed strong positions at this end of the market thanks to its impressive spec list relative to its price. This seems to be becoming a reality as the first sale for the Note 7 went live earlier today, and the phone reportedly sold out in minutes. The high demand for this phone is evident, and Xiaomi seems ready to cater to the influx of customers in upcoming sales.

Redmi Note 7 Sold Out in 8 Minutes
In the first sale that took place in China today, Redmi was able to sell out 1,00,000 Redmi Note 7 units within 8 minutes 36 seconds. Half of these were sold through the Mi Store site, while the other half were sold via third-party online retail outlets such as JD.com and TMall. Redmi CEO, Lu Weibing conveyed his excitement and appreciation to fans on the popular Chinese social media platform, Weibo. Fans were concerned if the brand would be able to fulfill the exceedingly high demand. To address these concerns, Redmi’s product manager confirmed that the company is on track to sell 1 million units by the end of January.
Furthermore, fans were relieved to know that they won’t have to wait too long for the next sale of this smartphone. Redmi shall conduct the next flash sale for the Redmi Note 7 on Friday, January 18. The flash sale begins at 10:00 AM local time, and we expect units to sell out in minutes just like the first time.
Redmi Note 7 Price
The Redmi Note 7 comes with an aggressive price tag of 999 Yuan for its 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant. This translates to about INR 10,300. Customers can also opt for a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model which costs 1199 Yuan (INR 12,500 approx.). A 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is also offered for 1399 Yuan (INR 14,500 approx.).

A Snapdragon 660 SoC powers the Redmi Note 7 despite it being priced so incredibly low. Furthermore, it boasts a massive 48MP rear camera which has been paired with a 5MP depth sensor. A tiny waterdrop notch at the front of the screen houses a 13MP selfie shooter. As for the display, you get a 6.3-inch LCD with a Full HD + resolution. The battery on this handset measures in at 4000mAh. This charges over a USB type-C port and is said to support Quick Charge 4.0.
