Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones last month in China. The same lineup got launched a little while ago in India. During the Indian launch, there were a couple of surprises that the company had in store for the Indian customers. The first one was the fact that both the devices got a dedicated storage slot in India. The second one, however, is the one that concerns us – The Redmi Note 8 Nebula Purple color variant. As it turns out, the company could not keep this color variant away from the fans of the Redmi Note 8 lineup in China and has finally unveiled the same in the homeland.
Redmi Note 8 Nebula Purple color variant launched in China
As said, the company has finally launched the Nebula Purple color variant of the Redmi Note 8 in China. The company’s official Weibo handle had already started teasing the same yesterday and today (at 10:00 AM Chinese time), the company finally made the news official.

The new Nebula Purple color variant of the Redmi Note 8 is available in 4GB/64GB and 6GB/64GB color variant. Other than the color, the rest of the specifications of the device are the same.
To refresh your memory, the Redmi Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The notch ensures that the Redmi Note 8 maintains a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The front and the rear of the Redmi Note 8 are wrapped up underneath a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is a slight amount of chin at the bottom of the Redmi Note 8 that has the Redmi branding imprinted on it.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 comes powered with a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset which is coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with scope for further expansion.
For photography, the Redmi Note 8 sports a quad-camera setup at the back (48MP primary lens + 8MP ultrawide lens + 2MP macro lens + 2MP depth sensor). The rear camera setup is vertically aligned with a dual-tone LED flash sitting to the right of it. At the front, we get a 13MP selfie snapper with FHD video recording.
For biometrics, the Redmi Note 8 relies on a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and the front camera for facial recognition.
Moving on to the battery of the device, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a big 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The device features a USB Type-C charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As far as the OS is concerned, the Redmi Note 8 runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with the company’s in-house MIUI 10 skin on top of it. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 8 will receive the latest MIUI 11 update in the month of December.
The new Nebula Purple color variant of the Redmi Note 8 will go on sale at 10:00 AM on November 18 in China.
