Xiaomi India’s Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, has announced on Twitter that the brand has sold more than one million (10,00,000) units of Redmi Note 8 series smartphones in the Indian market in one month.
Redmi Note 8 Series Is Being Sold at A Premium of INR 1,500
The Redmi Note 8 series was launched in India on October 16, and it consists of two smartphones – the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The demand for these smartphones is so high that a few offline stores are selling these devices at a premium of up to INR 1,500 on their MRP.
Redmi Note Series Is Xiaomi’s Best-Selling Line-Up
The Redmi Note series from Xiaomi is its best-selling line-up as it is known for offering excellent value for money. The last-generation Redmi Note series smartphones, the Redmi Note 7s and the Redmi Note 7 Pro, were a hit as well.
Xiaomi Is Leading Indian Smartphone Market in Sales
Currently, Xiaomi has the highest market share in the Indian smartphone market in terms of sales, with a market share of 28% in Q2 2019. It has been leading the smartphone sales in India for almost the last two years. Samsung follows it with a market share of 25%.
Xiaomi Sells Three Time More Phones Than Realme
Recently, Realme has been giving a fierce competition to Xiaomi in the budget smartphone segment by offering smartphones that have similar specifications and pricing as that of Xiaomi’s handsets. However, Realme has only a 9% market share, which is almost three times less than that of Xiaomi.
Realme 5s and Realme 5 Pro Give A Tough Competition to Redmi Note 8 Series
Speaking of, the closest competitors to the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro are the Realme 5s and the Realme 5 Pro. However, the Redmi Note 8 duo wins the battle by a slight margin as it offers a better overall package, at least on paper.
