
Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has finally taken the wraps off its Redmi Note 9 smartphone in India. The Redmi Note 9 is the third entrant in the series for the country, as the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max smartphones have already been launched in the past. The Redmi Note 9 features slightly toned-down specifications and features when compared with the other two smartphones in the series, including a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of a side-mounted unit, a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, and a 48MP primary rear camera. Redmi Note 9: Price and availability
The Redmi Note 9 is launched in three memory variants in India – one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is priced at INR 11,999, one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, price at INR 13,999, and the top-of-the-line variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is priced at INR 14,999. The device will be available in the country via mi.com and Amazon India starting from July 24, 2020
Redmi Note 9: Specifications and features
Starting with the display of the device, the Redmi Note 9 sports a 6.53-inch DotDisplay with a 2,340 x 1,080 pixels Full HD+ resolution. The device comes with a left-aligned single punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera (13MP).
At the back, the Redmi Note 9 makes room for a square-shaped quadruple camera setup, which includes a 48MP wide-angle camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118-degree field of view, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The device is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection (front and rear camera lens). It measures 162.3 x 77.2 x 8.9mm and weighs in at 199 grams. The device is available in three color options – Pebble Grey, Arctic White, and Aqua Green.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 9 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB onboard memory. The internal storage of the Redmi Note 9 has scope for further expansion. The Redmi Note 9 comes with a dedicated microSD card and two slots for SIM cards. As far as the software is concerned, the Redmi Note 9 boots the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s in-house MIUI 11 skin cooked atop it.
Coming to the battery of the device, the Redmi Note 9 features a large 5,020mAh battery with a 22.5W in-box fast charger. The device supports 9W reverse charging. Connectivity features of the device include a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C charging port, Bluetooth 5.0, and an IR blaster.
