Xiaomi’s Redmi, last year, made its debut in the Android tablet segment with the Redmi Pad. Now, it seems like Redmi is working on the successor of last year’s Redmi Pad – the Redmi Pad 2. As per tipster Kacper Skrzypek, who has been accurate with Xiaomi-related leaks, the Redmi Pad 2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.

Kacper further claims that the Redmi Pad 2 will offer a 90Hz LCD display with approximately 10.95-inch screen size. Apart from it, the tipster has also revealed the Redmi Pad 2 camera specifications. Let us take a closer look at what Redmi Pad 2 might have in store for us.

The upcoming Redmi Pad 2 will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. To those unaware, the first-generation Redmi Pad is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. Compared to the MediaTek Helio G99, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 will be a downgrade since the Helio G99 features Cortex A76 (performance) and Cortex A55 (efficiency) cores.

Kacper claims that the Redmi Pad 2 will feature a 90Hz LCD display with 1200 × 1920 pixel resolution and approx 10.95-inch screen size. So, in terms of display, the Redmi Pad 2 will be similar to its predecessor and we may not see any upgrade.

Further, the tipster reveals that the Redmi Pad 2 will feature an 8MP rear camera setup. The tablet is tipped to offer a 5MP front camera which, if true, will be a downgrade compared to its predecessor. To those unaware, the Redmi Pad offers an 8MP front camera.

Lastly, the upcoming Redmi tablet will reportedly come pre-loaded with the latest version of Android, that is Android 13. However, similar to the first-generation Redmi tablet, we can expect it to feature the company’s proprietary MIUI skin on top.

Apart from it, nothing else has been revealed about the upcoming Redmi Pad 2. The details surrounding the battery, charging, and storage remain under wraps for now. However, we can expect these details to surface on the web in the coming weeks.

The tipster hasn’t said anything regarding its launch timeline so it’s not clear when Xiaomi will make the Redmi Pad 2 official. Also, the upcoming Redmi Pad 2 is yet to make its first appearance on a certification website, so we shouldn’t expect it to go official anytime soon.

The Redmi Pad, as we mentioned in our detailed Review, is one of the best tablets in its segment, so the expectations from its successor are high.
