Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi introduced its very first notebook alongside the K20 and K20 Pro Android smartphones at an event held in Beijing, China today. The new RedmiBook 14 boasts a thin and light design and comes with a sleek metal body that gives it a premium touch.

RedmiBook 14 Price, Availability

Consumers in China will be able to order the RedmiBook 14 starting from June 1. It is slated to go on sale in the country starting June 11. Available in three configurations, the base variant of the RedmiBook 14 with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD is priced at CNY 3,999 (INR 40,300 approx.).

The Intel Core i5-powered variant with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD is priced at CNY 4,299 (INR 43,300 approx.) while the Core i7 variant with identical RAM and storage has been priced at CNY 4,999 (INR 50,400 approx.). Redmi has not revealed any information yet regarding the global availability of the RedmiBook 14. Since Xiaomi is yet to launch any of its notebooks in the Indian market, we are not very hopeful of seeing the RedmiBook 14 hit Indian shores.

RedmiBook 14 Specifications, Features

The RedmiBook 14 sports a 14-inch 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution display featuring 5.75mm thin bezels. Thanks to the slim bezels, the notebook boasts an impressive 81.2% screen-to-body ratio. Redmi says the panel offers 178-degree wide viewing angles, although the peak brightness is slightly unimpressive at just 250 nits. In terms of size, the notebook weighs in at only 1.5 kilograms, making it extremely portable. In addition to being very light, the RedmiBook 14 has a slim 17.95mm profile as well.

Redmi’s first notebook comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8265U processor in the more affordable variants. The top-end variant packs Intel’s Core i7-8565U processor clocked at 1.8 GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.6 GHz. As mentioned above, the notebook packs 8GB of RAM and is available with up to a 512GB solid state drive. Interestingly, all the three configurations of the RedmiBook 14 feature an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

The RedmiBook 14 features a full-sized keyboard with 19mm wide keys and 1.3mm key travel for a comfortable typing experience. It also has a large touchpad with support for multitouch gestures. When it comes to battery life, Redmi is claiming the notebook provides up to 10 hours of usage on a single charge. Fast charging is supported as well, which means you will only need to wait around 35 minutes for the battery to be charged up to 50% when the RedmiBook is turned off. On the connectivity front, RedmiBook 14 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band and Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy standards. You get two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, and an HDMI port. Some of the other notable features of the notebook include two 1.5W speakers with DTS surround sound and Intelligent Unlock 2.0 that is claimed to unlock it in just 1.2 seconds. The notebook runs on the Windows 10 operating system and comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition pre-installed.
