Reliance AGM 2023: Key Jio 5G Highlights
Jio AirFiber
Reliance Jio has confirmed that the Jio AirFiber device will be launching in India on September 19 which is the Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated. The news was shared by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, of Reliance Industries during his speech at the AGM 2023. The company also mentioned that it has around 10 million+ customers on the JioFiber internet service and it hopes to use the AirFiber device to expand the base by catering to the 200 million-plus market.
Reliance has not shared the price of the product but it is expected that the Jio AirFiber will be priced around Rs 6,000 in the country. Jio AirFiber is a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) device that promises 5G speeds via the hotspot internet service.
Jio claims that it will use the existing 5G network and wireless tech to offer high-speed connectivity without relying on optical fiber. It supports Wi-Fi 6 standard, has multiple LAN ports, can be connected to the Jio Set Top Box and helps you set up a printer or any other device.
PAN India Jio 5G By December 2023
During the Reliance AGM 2023 speech, Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio 5G has covered around 86 per cent of the census towns in the country. He also shared that the company will complete its 5G rollout by December this year, which will make it the fastest network rollout in the world.

In addition to this, he also pointed out that 25GB of data is consumed per day by one person, and the total data traffic from Jio’s network is 1100GB per month. He also highlighted that Jio has 50 million 5G customers and the company has made the setup robust enough to set up one cell every second.
While these figures are impressive indeed, you also have to understand that Jio 5G is available free of cost for its customers, and all they need is to take a prepaid recharge plan of Rs 239 or higher to avail of the 5G services from Jio. Once the 5G network has dedicated plans, we expect these numbers to come down but having 5G rolled out across the country in such a short time is quite a feat for the company.
