Samsung has been in the lead when it comes to launching foldable smartphones. The company first launched the Galaxy Fold, followed by the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold 2. Reports suggests that the Z Flip 2 and Z Fold 3 are slated for a 2021 launch. Samsung is also working on launching a new rollable screen smartphone later this year, according to The Elec. Samsung Display has confirmed that it is working on new display form factors. The company in its Q4 earnings call meeting had also said that it will launch small-to-mid-display foldable smartphones later this year. Affordable foldable smartphones from the South Korean giant are also in the pipeline, as per reports. Samsung working on rollable/sliding display phones to cement its leadership in 2021
Samsung is likely to launch a new display form factor phone in 2021. The company is tipped to launch the Z Flip 2 and Z Fold 3 with a foldable display. Alongside, the South Korean giant could also launch a slidable/ rollable display phone in 2021.
The tech behemoth’s display division’s vice president Choi Kwon-young said that the company’s first rollable and slidable displays are coming this year. We can expect the mobile division to adopt the new display tech when it is commercial-ready.
Samsung will join the likes of Oppo X 2021 and LG Rollable that come with a rollable/ sliding display. There is no word on the design elements or specifications of Samsung’s rollable phone.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is likely to launch in August 2021. The company could also launch the Z Flip 2 in June or July 2021. There is no official word on the exact launch date at the time of writing this.
