Samsung launched its first triple camera smartphone called the Galaxy A7 (2018), and while the company is prepping to launch yet another device next month, our attention will be focused on this device for the moment. With the handset expected to start getting sold officially in India after a while, here are the top five features that you should know about. For a device that is supposedly being marketed as a mid-ranger, the Galaxy A7 brings a lot of features to the table.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018): Top Five Features
Design: The Galaxy A7 (2018) boasts a premium look despite being a mid-range smartphone. It carries the same design philosophy that Samsung has maintained with its flagship handsets and that is using an Infinity Display. This results in a robust chassis with a taller display present right at the front of the smartphone, allowing you to view more content as a result.
Display: The Galaxy A7 uses a rather large 6-inch screen. The fact that the smartphone uses a 6-inch display is not the interesting part, but the fact that Samsung went forward and used Super AMOLED technology is very impressive. Super AMOLED screen technology is quite expensive and for the longest period, such a display was only found on the company’s high-end smartphone lineup. Not anymore; now, the Galaxy A7 (2018) will be able to produce much sharper colours with a higher contrast ratio and it will be able to provide you with a satisfactory brightness when you are using the device outdoors. If that was not good enough, then you should know that the Galaxy A7 will also be able to deliver better battery life as a result of using Super AMOLED technology.
Chipset: Though Samsung has not detailed which chipset is running in the Galaxy A7 (2018), it has been listed as an octa-core processor running at a speed of 2.2GHz. Having an octa-core processor running at those speeds will mean that a device like this will be able to deliver smooth performance and fluidity. When you have all eight cores running at the same time, the Galaxy A7 will be able to deliver maximum performance.
Camera: This is the highlight of the smartphone and what’s more important is the fact that this is Samsung’s first ever device to ever sport a triple-camera setup at the back. The Galaxy A7 can also record 4K footage at a steady 30fps, but the three different sensors are going to be acting very differently. You have a 24MP primary sensor and it has been mated with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens that will be able to capture more area, while the 5MP sensor will be used for depth-sensing and can initiate beautiful Bokeh effects.
Battery: The battery capacity of the Galaxy A7 (2018) is a decent size considering the size of the display. For a 6-inch smartphone that sports slimmer bezels, having a 3300mAh unit inside the handset is not a bad choice. If you use a high amperage charger, you will be able to charge the device in little to no time.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018): Specifications, Features
The Galaxy A7 (2018) features a large 6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 2220 x 1080 resolution in an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The chipset has not been listed but according to the specifications, the smartphone will feature an octa-core processor running at a speed of 2.2GHz, with all eight cores belonging to ARM’s Cortex-A53. That will be able to deliver a decent level of performance, and what’s more interesting is that the base model features 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of internal storage.
Samsung has also allowed buyers to get more memory from the purchase of the Galaxy A7 because the top-tier model features up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If that was not enough, there is also a microSD card slot to help you expand that existing storage. Perhaps the biggest selling point of the smartphone is not going to be its dual-camera, but its triple-camera setup at the back. The Galaxy A7 features a 24MP+8MP+5MP camera at the rear side, followed by a single 24MP shooter at the front.
The smartphone can also record 4K footage at 30fps from the primary shooter, which is great to see from a mid-range handset like this. Connectivity options for the Galaxy A7 (2018) are plentiful as you get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, GPS with A-GPS, NFC and a microUSB 2.0 port for charging purposes. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack to listen to audio.
Powering the smartphone is a decent-sized 3300mAh battery but there is no support for Qi wireless charging.
